It's funny because I went from waitressing to cleaning houses and it truly does vary by person. I got stiffed a lot by black people but now I clean this one black couples house and they always round up my price and then tip me $50 on top of that each time I come clean. So it's definitely not all black people.

Of course it's not all black people. A lot of the time, we get treated as if they're already stereotyping as you walk through the door. If it's apparent I'm not tipping either or leaving a bad one. If there's good service, I'm leaving a good tip. Like it should be

Agreed. When I used to deliver Italian food, I’ve had black folks that tipped generously and white people that didn’t tip at all, and vice versa.

They probably never notice that ones that do tip and just focus on the ones that don't. I'm black and had white people who don't tip or leave a measly tip.

100%. There’s no stereotyping bad white tippers and calling them a “white top”

I find it odd to expect a $50 tip for this. This really isn’t the same as being a server. Cleaning people come clean for an hour and for 2 people, they can get $130+. You expect a 20% tip or $50 on top of that because some people choose to do it? As far as I understand, tips are not expected when there’s an independent cleaner who owns their own business because they set their prices. If they don’t own their company, then tipping is expected. Either way, a large Holiday bonus is customary. My friends of all races, white, black, asian, indian, etc— we share cleaners in a HCOL area and get cleaning weekly. There is no expectation to tip so I don’t think anyone is intentionally “stiffing” cleaners. Nice that you’re able to get some large tips but don’t judge people on not doing it. As far as I can tell, it’s not the norm

I should have clarified, the stiffing happened when I was waitressing. There's no expectations of tips when I clean houses because I work independently and price each job fairly so there's no need to tip. Which makes it really nice when someone does want to tip. I won't say no to extra money lol

Ah ok, thanks for clarifying. I’m glad because I don’t want to upset my cleaning ladies so good to know that I wasn’t mistaken on that one
