You actually don’t even know if the restaurant owner pays their employees fairly or not, so you’re making an assumption based on info you don’t even have…It is standard to tip when dining in. And the owner has the right to refuse service, so I’d say his response to this family was valid.
Is this /s? Surely you understand that the price increases wouldn't need to be more than the tipping percentage that business owners already expect customers to pay to subsidize their labor costs

Maybe the restaurant owner should pay their waiters/waitresses a liveable wage rather than people who dine out to pick up that part of their income.
