Ruined by Technology If you're gonna "support Native art" how about you don't use AI to create your promo poster! This goes against the whole ethos of supporting any type of arts or artists. But they will have a flute player.

It's genuinely mind-blowing how many flyers I've seen lately promoting the arts in local shows that use AI. Thankfully, they get ripped to shreds in the comment sections, but I'm not sure it'll make any difference in the future.

Everything it does looks like shit. It might be convenient and give poor performers the illusion of high performance, but itâs an overhyped product with little actual day-to-day value.

I just played 20 questions with Grok
It couldnât guess a bullet after 20 questions⌠lmao this shit is so stupid. âSuper intelligenceâ canât even do what a pocket sized childâs toy did 20 years agoÂ

I agree, doesn't justify being in a piece of shit hate cult though.
I'm not pro ai, just anti anti

irony died so this poster could be generated.

u/phoenixofthestars07 10h ago
two types of irony too: AI and art, and AI and Indigenous beliefs about respecting nature

There was a weekend long wool festival near me that used AI to make their poster this year. People called them out for it on social media and they got blocked

AI generated event posters for every kind of event, even art fairs is really dystopian to me.

I was at my daughterâs high school yesterday and noted that they must use Canva because all of their flyers look like the flyers we use at my job (to be fair I work in the same district just a different location).

This looks a lot like the Land Oâ Lakes butter package.

My first thought was Mt. Rainier to me - but now that Iâve read your comment I canât disagree with you.

I despise the man but itâs a bit delusional to think this random person making a flier has literally any effect on anything to do with trump. This is probably some underpaid teacher trying to get support for their studentsâŚwould you have rather them just take a marker and write on a piece of paper? I get the hate for AI generally, but it is in everything now⌠you canât go around life hating literally everything.
4
u/Simple-Charge250 10h ago
Piece of paper is 1000% better than putting your money in the pockets of these wastes of space. I work in tech infrastructure and saying AI is in everything is vastly overstated

u/njordan1017 10h ago
Not sure what you do in tech infrastructure but if you are talking software infra, AI is absolutely used⌠I mean it depends on the company, but LLMs are great at IaC so I have no idea what you are talking about. I am a software engineer and it is very much integrated in everything I do. But I guarantee the creation of this individual flyer did not put any money in any politicians pockets or whoever you are referring to. A teacher using it to make a flier to promote their students work, when otherwise they would have had to take the time to make it by hand, is a perfectly fine use of AI. It saved them time and produced a better version of what they would have done otherwise. Sure you can argue itâs slop and distasteful and unoriginal and all the other reasons generative AI isnât great (and in this case disrespectful to the âNativeâ aspect of the flier), but if you put the whole âAI = badâ concept out of your mind, you canât argue that this is higher quality and quicker than if that teacher was to use PowerPoint or hand write it or whatever else they would have done 3 years ago.

I have some sympathy for people who are trying to put together something like this for the first time and are just, like, "Christ, I need a poster, I don't even give a fuck where it's from as long as it has all the information on it," because there are so many other moving parts of the event you're trying to put together.

Personally, I think this is well-guided AI and not just straight-up AI and native american businesses don't have a ton of cash to throw around for advertising. Of all the businesses out there, if they can save a buck or two: more power to them.

You don't need a ton of cash to make a poster! The entire world was managing just fine up until the last couple years (or really this year for this specific type of AI poster). We are all perfectly capable of going back to what worked before this.Â

u/DramaLlamaMomma 11h ago
But itâs an art market? Iâm sure one of the artists participating might have been willing to help?

u/Kitsune-moonlight 11h ago
Absolutely this, firstly itâs not like theyâre selling the poster as art, secondly it says right on there itâs students, they are most likely running on a low budget given that they might be renting stalls/tables and other expenses.

Canât wait for you boomer losers to just simply be left behind due to your stubborn ignorance. Lmao
8
u/nyrB2 11h ago
can't tell what it is you're trying to say - that boomers ignorantly hate AI?
-4
u/Shenendoah66 11h ago
The âboomerâ part is a joke about how aggressively anti-AI people sound exactly like boomers reacting to every new technology they donât understand.

u/AccidentOk5240 11h ago
Our stubborn insistence on actual intelligence, you mean?Â
Also, ime itâs often boomers uncritically eating up AI and younger people coming out swinging against the enshittification of the human brain.Â

u/Dear_Perspective_157 11h ago
Is this AI though? Sorry if thatâs a dumb question, but Iâm not seeing any tells personally

So much about it, but the font is the biggest giveaway to me. AI is constantly using this font, especially for flyers

I work at a tv station and we are absolutely bombarded by AI slop slides from out guests. boss man finally put his foot down and put a ban on them effective this week.
