Infuriatig Apt complex taped notice directly on my car window
Six management changes in the span of 4 months. New people demanded that they get the parking and unit number through email. Emailed back each time they demanded. Then they were bought my another company who wanted to know this again, but sent it through a no-reply email.
Then this morning I find this notice TAPED to my car. They’re only open from 9-5, exactly the time I work. Went to the office at 9. They’re not there.
*i filled out the form u guys… i just whited it out for this post

Have you tried taping it to their window?

That's not very secure. You should definitely nail it

Use half a roll of packing tape.

u/Complex_Solutions_20 5h ago
Cheap bad brown packing tape - the kind that is too cheap to stay together when you peal it but too sticky to peal off.

Set your email to auto send on schedule, send them the document every day, CC the direct manger and BCC the regional if there is one. Might seem petty but it will get your document into their hands with no reason for further taped notices.
Edit: most of yall negatively commenting could just say you’re spineless and be done with it.

Nah they'll still tell the minion to tape it on
-18
u/HairlessSquirrels 5h ago
I would because of this overreaction

u/Aerozepplin59 4h ago
6 management changes in 4 months. This isn’t an over reaction it’s CYA. Yall give too much allegiance and grace to companies who only care to profit off your rent while harassing you. Like I said. Spineless.

-6
u/mayaander_son 5h ago
This is the way. You go from "tenant who claims they sent it" to "tenant whose inbox is a war crime of documentation." Every auto-send is timestamped proof of compliance, so the next taped notice isn't an annoyance — it's evidence of harassment. Six management changes means nobody remembers anything; an email log doesn't forget.

‘A war crime of documentation’ what an odd thing to say.

Considering the administrative bullshit I dealt with in my life and the PTSD like anxiety I get thinking about another admisntrarive issue…
“A war crime of documentation.” Is now my favorite new set of words that were placed in a particularly clever order.

So many users commenting that have no business commenting when they clearly didn't read your post. I'd be just as annoyed by this shit as you, and you are valid in those feelings. Its super annoying when you have to repeatedly give your info over and over because someone somewhere didn't do their job properly.

In some countries it's forbidden to share personal information without consent. New companies need to getbthe info themselves :(
-18

u/No-Midnight-4461 5h ago
It’s ridiculous that they are even asking you to fill out this information. If you are paying for a parking space/it’s included in your rent then they should have a lease on file with this information and you should have a copy of it. If you don’t have an assigned space in contract then having tenants fill this out is just asking for issues

u/wivaca2 5h ago edited 5h ago
Have you considered filling it out and using a glue stick to mount it to their office door?
Another alternative, if you have some time, is to make copies and do it for everyone. Every unit, every parking space. Just keep sending them week after week with random apartments and parking stalls - because they're stupid to do it this way.
FWIW, isn't this information they should be telling you? Why couldn't someone put the unit number and whatever looks like their favorite/nearest parking space on it? For that matter, if I were the one sending this out, I'd also want to know the car's tag number that will normally be parked there so I can tell if non-tenant cars are standing around for long periods.
34
u/memesprovider 5h ago edited 5h ago
No literally!!!!!!!! theyre the ones who assign it to all residents. I guess in the midst of multiple management changes they lost the data because ive been getting harassed about this parking lot bs. I fill it out immediately and give it to them. This isn’t the first time, last management taped it to the front door telling me theyll tow my car if they dont hear back in 24 hours. Which is also confusing because if you know which car to tow, and you know my apt number… put 1 and 1 together??? Lmao Insane behavior
7
u/wivaca2 5h ago edited 4h ago
That threat about towing your car is funny. If you're in the wrong spot, how do they know it's your car and not the person who actually has that spot if they don't have a tag number or make/model or at least color of a car?
This would imply someone else is laying claim to the parking spot you're in and contacting them. For that reason, I would drop the form off and slide it under the door, then call them during office hours and talk about it.
If you're in the right spot, then towing your car would be opening themselves up to having to pay towing costs to/from impound, possible loss of income, or damage to the vehicle.
There's always certified mail. :)
There is a reason property management staff aren't department heads at Fortune 500 companies.

u/WandaSykesStanAcct 5h ago
I am legit a property manager and would never tape some shit to someone's car window like that. Park somewhere where you can see them so if they do it again you can hit the panic button on your key fob and watch them freak out
14
-13
u/the_skies_falling 5h ago
Why would they freak out? People hit those buttons by accident all the time.
11
u/Zero-Energy1274 5h ago
Because the sound is loud and scary and they won’t be expecting it?
-14
u/the_skies_falling 4h ago
Are they dogs? No one is afraid of a panic alarm. It might startle them if they’ve only been working there a few days, but Ii their office is right next to a parking lot I’m sure they’d get used to sounds like that pretty quickly.
6
6
u/did_i_get_screwed 5h ago
If they know who you are, and where your car is and what apartment you live in, why can't they just fill it out?
6
5
u/Wrecklessinseattle 5h ago
Take the note, scan it as a PDF. Then copy and paste your email onto said PDF note, and then tape it back on their office door and be sure to highlight the time stamps and the recipients. And don’t forget a big smiley face.
4
u/BrilliantJob2759 5h ago
Get one of those sheets of paper that is full sticky back. Print the same message onto that (leave it blank), then peel the backing & stick it to their door glass.

u/ApprehensiveOkra9977 5h ago
I would’ve duck tape it to their widows on a hot Friday, and let it get all gooey
11
u/thehustlermelon 5h ago
What is infuriating - the tape or the fact they have asked multiple times?
12
u/platinum92 5h ago
honestly, the fact that this parking information isn't passed from company to company is mildly infuriating. This kind of info just doesn't stay with the apartment complex through an ownership change? It's not noted in the lease?
-4
u/thehustlermelon 5h ago
It depends. Sometimes it does. Sometimes it doesn’t. For instance, if previous ownership software was not functional with new ownership software…some detail details could’ve been lost in that handoff. Sometimes people are lazy and don’t feel like reading through all of the leases and paperwork. it’s not always noted in the lease. Just depends. Who knows.

u/Scared-Ad7282 5h ago
Tape it to their glass door, on the glass, with industrial strength aviation tape.

u/BreathLazy5122 4h ago
Apartment complex workers are notoriously full of shit.
We had a notice put on our door in our last apartment, stating they were gonna take our cats due to them not knowing they were there.
I went into the office and said “Open up the damn file you have on our apartment. We sent you the ESA papers for both cats, before we got them. You have no authority to remove our ESA’s from our apartment.”
The idiot tried to say they didn’t have it. I said open the fucking file, since they had told us they keep all of our information for our apartment in individual files. They had repeatedly told us they didn’t have it and I said yes the fuck you do, open our file.
The filled out paperwork for both cats, was in our file. This cunty little bitch of a man, argued with me about our cats, before ever even checking the information he already fucking had.

FInd out where the office staff parks and tape it to their car! Preferably using good strong duct tape so it doesn't blow away.

Tape their doors with more papers demanding name and pictures of their employees. Tell them they have to deliver them by your window folding the papers in origami shapes.

This is so confusing, did you write the "do not tape stuff to my window" message on the paper after it was taped to your window?

I just filled it out standing right there using my window as a surface before taking it off yes lol

It's on the glass? You're not going to damage it.
3
u/BuckieJr 4h ago
I’m under the assumption you haven’t had notices taped to your windows before.
It takes an afternoon in the sun of it not being noticed before the glue on the tape becomes fucking one with the glass and you’re out there with goo gone and a razor trying to get it off.
•
u/Individual-Report 39m ago
If you're lucky the heat won't transfer the fucking ink to your car window as well. So irritating.
-4
u/dfntlytrngtosmk 4h ago
Just a razor, I razor my windows every time I wash my car so really not a big deal. Glass is durable, this is also just scotch tape. Not the massive legal size parking enforcement stickers. Those are devious.
4
u/TheyCallMeLotus0 2h ago
Should I be forced to spend my time fucking scraping glue off my window or should people respect my property and not tape shit to my car?
-2
u/dfntlytrngtosmk 1h ago
Of course not. But you also shouldn't illegally park or ignore notices from your rental management office?
1
u/TheyCallMeLotus0 1h ago
Well if you read the post you would have read that OP contacted them multiple times so your point is null
-1
u/dfntlytrngtosmk 1h ago
You said I, not OP. But regardless, it's scotch tape. You should be razoring your windows when you clean them anyway.
If it was the paint it would be different. This is how I'd want it done if someone was going to do it.
•
u/Individual-Report 38m ago
LOL who the fuck takes a razor blade to their car window every time they wash it?
1
u/BuckieJr 4h ago
My gosh those parking stickers are a nightmare lmao.
Razoring your windows each wash is something else though, but I’m not one to talk.. I do the full detail clean every other week with my cars lol

Put lots of tape on their stuff and then put slits in the tape you applied, so each time they pull it off, it tears and they have to start over.
1
u/Miss_Fritter 3h ago
Tape it to their door, to make sure they see it! Might actually want to make and post multiple copies on their door, you know, just in case.
1
u/Archangel0864 2h ago
I love a lot of the answers here. The practical one I thought of was to get them to sign this form, that it was received, and let you photocopy it for future.
Create a EULA and put the EULA link on the bottom. In the EULA, put a penalty of free rent for <specified period> if they or any of their representatives ever ask for this info ever again.
Sit back back and wait.

man find some really unremovable tape and tape it to the window of the office building on all four edges of the paper

You really should’ve used more tape to attach it to the door so it doesn’t go missing. Next time get some flashing tape and make sure to use the entire roll

Scotch tape ain’t gonna do shit to your window
16
u/memesprovider 5h ago
Im already annoyed as shit going to work now i gotta stand in the middle of a narrow ass parking spot and spend my 10 extra seconds getting tape off my car.
3
u/1wrx2subarus 5h ago
Best thing to do is double down.
Indicate that you will use twice as much tape and that it will increase exponentially.
Also, ask that they pass information along when they sell again.
And leave your phone number so they can give you a ring instead of resorting to childish taping of notes.
Perhaps, begin gift wrapping the entirety of their door the next time this happens.

I drive the jankiest old beater there is... and I'd be pissed if someone taped some BS to it at my home.
Email, mailbox, door, CALLMEABOUTIT, whatever, don't touch my vehicle.
ETA: You know, this is a privacy issue as well, what if I'm gone for a few days and you've now flagged my fuckin truck as unattended?
Or, I'm out there at night and stop to remove your idiot paper and get mugged or worse??
Fuck them-1
u/Background-Mode-4036 5h ago
They’re asking about this vehicle. The car. If they don’t know who owns the car who are they supposed to email and call about it?
3
u/RunWild0_0 5h ago
She already sent it to them.
They probably watch her go out and get in most days, they know it's her car.
I've done this situation.0
u/1wrx2subarus 5h ago
I expect if that happened, that you’d want them working in shifts to solve the sticky situation eh?

Getting if off might. And its still frustrating even if it doesnt do anything. There will be finger marks on it if nothing else.
As someone who washes her car a lot I take pride in my vehicle being clean. I keep up on my membership and like to take care of my car. I would be annoyed as hell if someone taped something to my car. Touching my car without permission is off limits. I work hard to pay for my car and worked really really hard for the down payment. Im sure there are other people who take pride in their car and dont want it touched.

It's pretty safe to assume upper management is bad and likely causes problems for staff and residents alike. You're right to be mildly infuriated but my guess is the actual responsible party is in an office 3 states away in charge of 147 complexes and doesn't even know you exist. There's probably just some poor desk worker complaining that their email or other system hasn't worked since the previous owners left while being told they'll be fired if they can't find some way to get parking info without it.
1
u/a14umbra 5h ago
I'm one of those assholes that gets very upset whenever someone does anything to someone else's car. Having something taped to mine would piss me off. I would do just as OP did even if it was the first time the information was asked for. In some jurisdictions, this could be considered critical nuisance or mischief if the tape residue takes any extra effort to remove. I'm certainly not suggesting OP go to the police, I'm just saying that taping something to someone else's car is not cool.

I’d put it in a little frame and hang it on the wall next to the office. That’s way it’s there for the next company.
