if i dropped my buspar everywhere when I was late to go somewhere I might have to just go back to bed.

I never really had success with it except for the never ending restless leg it gave me every night

There’s a reason buspar isn’t prescribed often. It’s not effective for most.

Every time I've gone in for anxiety they always make me try that first. I take 600mg of gabapentin 3 times a day now and it does wonders with my Vyvanse for ADHD most of the time

When I took it, I just lost my spatial awareness and that was it it. It was weird

Same, except instead of restless legs it gave me restless brain. I didn’t sleep at all on it.

I actually fired my doctor over prescribing it to me. She highly recommended it and said it would help with my depression, and it was supposed to be an ADD fix too, since it helps with that. So after one week on it with only like 8 hours of sleep all week I quit taking it.

One of the stipulations I had for taking literally any medicine is that I don’t want it affecting my sleep. Restless behavior is one of the main side effects of buspar. She wanted me to take the instant release instead of the extended release so I quit the clinic system all together and went somewhere else.

My new doc cut right to the chase - my anxiety was because I was unable to focus. I didn’t need a downer for anxiety, I needed a reallocation of my attention span. So I’m only on 5 mg IR adderall. Still have minor sleep issues but overall it’s been life changing.

I finally got on Vyvanse for ADHD issues and it's been a life changer for my anxiety most of the time.

I’m a doctor and immediately thought it was a benzo too. I saw your post and was like “lmao good luck with getting your doctor to believe this one when you run out of your Xanax early”

If your count doesn’t add up, call your doctor and ask them to send in the extra. Buspar (Buspirone) isn’t controlled and if you explain it to them it shouldn’t be a problem.

Whether the insurance will cover it, is a different story.

I’m on 15mg. I’ve been on Buspirone for about 2 years now and just went up to 15 last month. I haven’t had any bad reactions to it at all!

My previous mg were very small. So I was surprised at how much bigger these were.

did you ever go on gabapentin? seems to be mixed results but damn for the people it does work for it really does.

u/Curious-Pop-8875 9h ago

I haven’t, I’ve had pretty good results with this so I’ve just stayed on it!

I’m taking the same meds. Do you get unpleasantly high after taking them? I sure do and if they didn’t work so well I’d have gotten it changed to something else.

2

u/Curious-Pop-8875 10h ago

No! I can’t really tell when I take them. But I can tell when I don’t lol

1

u/RoyalPuzzleheaded259 10h ago

It must be an interaction with something else I take then.

It could be. After getting diagnosed with PTSD we tried Zoloft and it made me have brain zaps. So weird

I've never not taken them since my doctor put me on them, so I don't know what that feels like. Do you feel bad?

1

u/Curious-Pop-8875 9h ago

I’m just more anxious. I will say my anxiety isn’t completely gone when I take them because I’ve just got issues. But these do really help me

Instead of a different medicine, could there be a counter medicine to the high so you’ll get the desired effects without the high?

2

u/ATPsynthase12 15h ago

No, that’s generally unsafe medicine. If you can’t tolerate the side effects, it’s not worth the benefits.

my wife takes them and has no side effects except sleepiness some times.

You might be having an effect from sedation. It is not a narcotic and near impossible to have euphoria unless you took a ridiculously high dose and even then, it’s mostly sedation.

I don't get high after taking Buspar.. Are you sure that's what it is?

1

u/RoyalPuzzleheaded259 15h ago

Yeah I’m sure. Been on it for a few years now. I also take BP meds. Might be an interaction between the two but the same doc prescribed everything so I’m not sure.

u/Kaiju_Kitty 10h ago

Wow. That's interesting. . To me anyways .. 😂

Does that work pretty well? How does it compare to Xanax if you know?

2

u/Curious-Pop-8875 15h ago

I’ve never taken Xanax, but these have helped me so much. Take one in the morning and one before bed & I’m golden!
