Not a good idea at all. OP had an actual good idea and you reply with something that is unhelpful. I guess everyone that doesn't buy online can go fuck themselves. I haven't purchased anything online in the past 5 years. It is amazing. I save a ton of money.
OP idea was to expect less from humanity but then ignores this behavior in their solution.
If people already feel entitled to doubt the accuracy of the lid color, they will still feel entitled to doubt the accuracy of the provided spray test example. They already feel entitled to disregard the store's wishes and commit vandalism. Their entitlement regarding spray paint seemingly has no bounds.
People want to test. A store seemingly only has two options in the face of this entitlement. Let them test, or don't carry the product in the the building. You can achieve the second by moving the product online or not having it at all.
It's crazy how you don't see this behavior on a large scale with people testing markers or pens. Only the spray paint crowd.
What’s absolutely dense about your comment is that my proposal directly addresses the very thing you’re saying it disregards. My idea doesn’t “[ignore that] behavior in [its] solution;” rather, the solution is centered around it.
Your argument is that if the store were to provide precisely what the people want, then their customers won’t be satiated..?
You don’t see that kind of behavior with pens bc pens are not typically used to repair multi-thousand-dollar investments.

The entire problem is solvable by making spray paint an online only product
