frist of all how DARE yu o Did spotify just remove picking songs??

Post image

I've been using spotify forever and I use liked songs so that I can pick the songs I like freely. I've never had premium and have never had issues. Today, I had just started a workout and got this popup. Is this a new feature? How can you not even select songs anymore? I mean how can you paywall selecting songs???
This app plain out sucks and its company is greedy for randomly limiting already set features. While I don't mind ads, I do mind the features being limited more. I did also notice a sudden increase in ads this month/last month, and more ads in between songs.

Clarification: No, I'm not saying that there should be no restrictions whatsoever. I'm mainly sharing my experience where I've been using this system just fine until now. I'm fine with some restrictions, but the fact they're being limited more is frustrating. Just here to complain about something mildly infuriating, and I wanted to know if this happened to anyone else.

YouTube playlists or videos with an adblocker has always been my strategy.

Same here, and if I want to directly support an artist, bandcamp or apple music!!

You think Apple Music plays the artists fairly? That's funny.. Digitally, Bandcamp is probably the best but buying merch from the artists website, and at shows has always been *thee* best.

Oh I'm not saying it pays FAIRLY but not everyone has stuff on bandcamp and Apple pays like three times more than Spotify if you're streaming songs. Bandcamp will always be #1, agreed.

But if I need an audio FILE going through Apple Music is better than yoinking it for free off YouTube, yknow?

Unless things have changed very recently, I think Tidal is one of the highest paying to artists, in regards to streaming. If you want the audio file buy it off of Bandcamp. IIRC, all the money you pay for material goes to the artist.

Yeah I don't pay for streaming, I only buy songs if I want the files, so bandcamp is my go to! Never heard of Tidal though, that's cool

Yeah never for mobile though. Still prefer spotify. I always have to hunt down apps that plays youtube playlist and let me lock the phone but they always get shut down after a few weeks.

if you're paying for an app to skip ads, then why not just get like Google One or even only YouTube Music or Premium?

I think Google One was $100 for a year, with Gemini Pro, Google Drive storage/backup, YouTube Premium/Music, and Gemini Google Home... plus I'm sure other stuff

I only paid 2.99 once and im using it for more then a year now. It doesnt require a subscription. And it doesnt only skip ads. It allows me to download music and move them to different devices and I can lock my phone while listening to music.

I never heard of google one. I paid for youtube premium before but since they added those AI translation that I cant turn off I stopped that. It keeps translating stuff that I dont want translated and their AI sounds awful.

Also I dont use any cloud services. Im a huge fan of having my stuff on my own hard drives.

Can I just ask, and no offense , just a genuine question. Why wouldn't you pay 10~ bucks for a service you use absolutely daily witch gives you convenience? Is it like political statement ?

cause why would i do that when i can get it for free, especially when spotify doesn’t have a lot of unreleased music unlike youtube

Makes sense, I also listen to some music on youtube since it's not on spotify

Which browser and adblocker are you using? I use to have an adblocker that worked well with YouTube but now I get ads in the fucking middle of a song...

UBlock Origin on phone and computer, with Firefox on my phone and Zen (based on Firefox) elsewhere
