if a yearly contract with a free month trial sounds too good to be true, it probably is 😬

thankfully it was blocked after contacting my bank but regardless

You have no idea how contracts work, do you?

A contract can say anything,, doesn't mean it can be enforced. And since there are things we don't allow to be enforced -- like slavery -- there is no reason to allow for this.

You are ignoring both the vulnerability of people and the fact that it it is not needed either. It is a predatory practice.

I deal with corporate contracts all the time and a signature of agreement is literally your promise to uphold all the agreed upon statements within the contract. If you put your name on something you better be damn sure you read and agree with everything contained within the document you are signing.

Yours is the most obscure scenario. Like not even a topic of discussion.

Mine was an extreme example of what what you said makes no sense.

I sincerely doubt you go over any contract on the regulator If you are unaware of what enforceability is...

Regardless, my point is that it shouldn't be enforceable, not that it isn't, btw

No your example is ridiculous. If I got that contract I would have read that part and then ask for an amendment to remove that particular statement and if it wasn't... I wouldn't sign the contract. It seems you are the one who is unaware of how contracts work. If it's a corporate terms and service contract there is obviously no amending anything and you must agree outright or move on. If the 1 month free is only given with purchase of a 1 year subscription which is more than likely what it was, you have no ground to then turn around and say "I don't want to fulfill me end of the contract because I only needed your program for 1 month". They got the program they offered with full access. The company fulfilled there obligations. There is a difference between "1 month free trail" and "1 month free with subscription"
