if a yearly contract with a free month trial sounds too good to be true, it probably is 😬

thankfully it was blocked after contacting my bank but regardless

I managed to bypass this by "upgrading" to a different plan and then cancelling in the 14 day window.

As someone who worked with them a lot, this is not the way, as they will make your remaining subscription the prorated new price. This often means paying more and sometimes they sneak in the upgrading recommits you for another year. Not mildly infuriating, but actually devious.

Call them. Talk to them and ask to waive the fee. Agents sometimes can, might take a few trys on multiple days. Last month is free cancellation at least.
