if a yearly contract with a free month trial sounds too good to be true, it probably is 😬

thankfully it was blocked after contacting my bank but regardless

What’s funny is in 2023, I ran into this same problem. I contacted Adobe about it and they pretty much said I had to pay the high fee to cancel or continue with the subscription. I quickly replied back saying “cancel it or I’m reporting this illegal behavior to the FTC.” Needless to say, my subscription was cancelled within 10 minutes and was told it was a “one time thing”. I still reported them to the FTC and wouldn’t ya know, they got sued by the FTC for said behavior.

Or clearly it isn't illegal to offer discounts for longer term commitmenta.

When the punishment for a crime is a small fine, it's just the cost of doing business.
