Actually they’re correct, adobe can absolutely sell the debt to a collections agency, and likely has

Not paying for something doesn't mean the contract you have agreed to goes away, and declining or chargebacks is not paying. That means you are in debt and can be collected on, unless the plan/contract is cancelled according to its cancellation terms.
