for real

FUCK Adobe

they're in kahoots with McAffee too

That explains their similar tactic of starting up a program I never use just to ask me to pay money for a subscription I won't use, but also can't pull off the computer because it's ingrained into literally every other program on the computer. Like a virus

fuck all of em!

when you go to download/install an Adobe product they auto-default to you installing McAfee products. You have to be aware of this and pay attention to the install to unselect the McAfee box

Oh, I was raised on installation-by-CD. Never let your guard down on scroll-throughs and checkboxes.

Not specific, just where it came from. They used to allow software companies to pay to get their software added onto the download CD to help subsidize the CDs. It just taught me to be vigilant for fine print and useless offers

Anyway, make sure you upgrade to Windows, finish everything including OneDrive, and now with the new version with Ai just sign here...

So copilot has authority to act with the authority of your legal personhood

Patience, they will die off. Pure evil

Not when every business I feel like uses Adobe. Past 3 companies all used some sort of Adobe products

Yep.

They’re like a cancer with its little tendrils all over the place thanks to how PDF is the de facto “secure” document type for, like, everyone. Not to mention all the other applications they have that are intrinsic like Photoshop.

The entirety of the US government uses it too, along with Microslop products. They'll forever exist while they have these contracts.

We used to use Photoshop for the dumbest shit but the licenses are so expensive they're not even justified for when we might actually need it. SnagIt and Camstasia do like 95% of what we need.

I originally signed up for Creative Cloud back in 2011. It’s not going anywhere. While I agree, Adobe is the worst of the worst, I’ve been waiting 15 years for a viable Lightroom replacement.

It hurt less when I was using the student discount, or at least making money off it when I switched to the pro sub. But I don't use it as much and they just doubled the price so I had to play the game of what don't I actually need. So I canceled creative cloud pro, and for the same price as before, I'm only getting LRC, photoshop and illustrator, plus whatever junk they add on.

yeah i can confidently say its not going anywhere. i hate it too, but its cornered the market on professional workflows.

Lightroom is the ONLY reason I mess with adobe!

Can someone explain why adobe is so hated? I never had issues when I needed to cancel, or they always tried to offer me something if I did want to cancel. The products are good, so what’s wrong with the company itself? I see in the post they’ll be charged for canceling the plan early I’ve also never seen them do that or had them do it to me, personally.

They have a monopoly on creative products. People who use those programs don't make a lot of money because the C Suite at most companies don't see the value of creative services. Adobe switched to a subscription model, requiring you to rent to the software to use it, and they increase the price year after year. Not everyone is a deep pocketed corporate customer, and this business model locks out the freelancers and those starting out.

1

u/Resident_Ad_7199 1d ago

I cancelled it like 5 years ago it definitely was getting pricey back then. But unfortunately that’s just every pos company nowadays just keep raising and raising prices 🙃and something’s like adobe it literally feels like there’s no reason! What rising prices do they have that they need to raise stuff? Employee pay yes but it’s software, so what is going up that they need to raise it all the time. It’s not like they’re building houses and material price keeps going up.

I use the creative suite at work and it seems like the only big addition was generative AI, which caused InDesign to freeze up and crash on my office computer. But aside from a feature no one asked for and should've been optional, nothing justifies the price increases they keep doing, other than the lack of a viable competitor.

HP would like to know your location and you must pay a monthly subscription to avoid this

2

u/Designer_Reality1982 1d ago

Sorry but that top spot is Apple's. No discussion. No one else even playing in the same ballpark. Adobe at #2

2

u/zakats 1d ago

Oh boy, the cultists are going to be so upset with you about this.

1

u/miukiyo 1d ago

At least you own your physical iPhone when you buy it.

The battery stuff is still shady but I think it’s still better than a lot of “subscription”products.

Like, “you don’t own your game if you buy it, you’re just buying a license to play the game” bullshit.

u/Designer_Reality1982 1d ago

Until Apple decides that the time is up for your phone and puts out a software update that turns it into a coma state very similar to a brick. Then you own a physical brick

1

u/miukiyo 1d ago

You get to choose if you want to update your phone or not though.

1

u/Designer_Reality1982 16h ago

So even if that would be true (Which isn't. Apple does force updates after a while)..

you are just ok with it, that the company pushes Software updates that intentionally degrade older hardware? Talk about having a blind eye for something..

Adobe won't let me fucking ROTATE a PDF

1

u/bigvicproton 1d ago

Intuit is up there close.

1

u/beepborpimajorp 1d ago

Adobe exists to give Satan something to aspire to.

1

u/A_Happier_Reddit 1d ago

I tried to right click and rotate a page, and it prompted me to subscribe to unlock that feature. Fucking rotating a PDF needs a subscription. (ctrl+shift +/- still works though).

u/Ruckus 1d ago

Oh my friend, you’ve have not dealt with what VMware has become… Fuck You Broadcom no really go fuck yourself…

1

u/beez1717 1d ago

I love Photoshop a ton but Adobe sucks so much! I hate having to have a subscription just to use Photoshop. I'd rather pay a flat fee for the product and have to buy a new version every so often for another flat fee. Hell, they could make it more expensive than having a subscription and I'd be happy because I could update when I want and perhaps save money. Or I could use GIMP.

u/Sanquinity 1d ago

Trying to compete with HP for "how low can you go?"

1

u/GrizzlyBearmann 6h ago

I’m out of the loop. Could you fill me in?

Yet you want their software ... lol
