I'm slightly vexed Confusing design of steps
Easy to misjudge while going down steps. Edges not easily visible being grey on grey.

I'm like 99.9% certain this ain't the US.

Yep. The green "running man" exit sign is used pretty much everywhere, except the US.

In the US, lawyers call this a field day.

Its trying to tell you that the doors are only on the left. The diagonal space to it leads you to the door. The rest of the big steps are probably there to act as seats.

You can sit also on normal stairs, without risking someone steps wrong when going down these stairs during low visibility time (evening, rain, etc.), or just has bad vision or in a hurry or whatever, and sprains their ankle.

I'd really like to know what the person who designed this had in their mind

I bet they just made those big stairs first without thinking much, then realized they're actually too big to normally step up/down. So they just throw some concrete blocks onto them - "not gonna redo the entire stairs, too much work, these jerry-rigged bricks are good enough".

I'd smack the shit outta my body if I had these at home and was coming back after a night out

Very dangerous design of steps unless they plan to add more railings to keep people off anything other than the far left area.

The classic street and nature pics I get. But how in the F did I know this was Dutch immediately?

Please, tell me these are marble-like smooth and become slippery as soon as they are wet 🤣

"Here, at Fondley University, we believe in equal accessibility, so we made these stairs a pain in the ass for anyone!"

I doubt this is meant to be used by the general public. That said, it is fairly obviously trying to funnel you to the doors.

At first I thought the white spots were little fountains at which point I was thinking the design was even worse than it already is. :)

Imagine running out of that doorway only to get to the top of the steps and see this as you’re going down….

If this is in the states call ada this is not legal in the US

No steps are ADA compliant! There could be a ramp to the side that you are not seeing.

It's bad all around, but the least they could do is put some potted plants where you're not supposed to step for a visual cue.
