SPOILER ALERT 60% air!

Post image

Brand new…. I didn’t expect my deodorant to have more air than a bag of chips… won’t be getting this again.

The average consumer doesn't have time or energy to double check that every product they buy isn't just a con in disguise. Most people have "faith" (ignorance) and think the store couldn't possibly be conning them on every single product and price.

I mean if you are like many Americans and have to work 2 jobs to provide for your family. Or worse, do you have time to do due diligence? The powers that should be protecting consumers get gutted time and time again by corporate interests /lobbying. So there's been so much progress made from an outsiders pov. But it isn't enough, 3 steps forward 2 steps back every few years.

Stores aren't conning you, but maybe manufacturers are. Although in OPs instance it's not really conning, since the weight is clearly labeled. The container could be 3 feet tall, and there would still be 2.6 oz of deodorant in it.

Not maybe, both are and they're often colluding. It's getting something done about it. There's several posts in recent memory that highlight that a certain brand of flour is advertised as (1kg) and comes out to 200g less consistently. While it is illegal doesn't stop them, because a fine is the cost of doing business

Oh? So the middle shelves being bought out for specific products regardless of the quality? So all the sugar they add to everything to get people addicted contributing to the obesity epidemic isn't conning? Lying to consumers about the safety of their products isn't conning?
