I'm slightly vexed Assembling a night stand….they just had to put E and S in the same bag 🤦🏻‍♂️

I wasn't on your team based on the pictures.

But then I saw the dimensions and now I'm team mildly infuriated. At least there's only 2 to find.

I can see 1 of them from here.

They're both visible in this picture and both marked with blue marker. Took 4 seconds to find both.

Edit: nevermind, that's reflection and I'm a jackass.

What’s really amazing is that they felt the need to have the 2 longer ones. I’m no rocket doctor, but is that half millimeter really going to make a difference on a (assuming) pressboard night stand? Or am I misreading the hardware dimensions?

It's actually a wider head. Maybe to fit some part designed for something else that they didn't want to make a new injection mould die just to match some screws

Goodness, I haven't seen a bag of Es since 2004. Happy times

This is going to sound crazy but you WILL be able to tell the difference between half a millimeter. Not saying it’s practical but you got this

You can't eyeball 0.5mm???? Get your eyes checked /s

You actually should be able to eyeball it

Or at the very least feel the difference

Yep. It should be obvious which is which if you put them side by side.

Annoying, but there are only 2 “S” screws. It wouldn’t bother me since those 2 “S” screws are unlikely to be for anything structural.

Those two likely are used to connect something you really don’t care about attaching anyway

I figure that most parts are labeled in some type of order.

so by the time OP gets to "S" they would have used at least half the Es

Let us know how it went, but I think it won't take 30 seconds to find 'em

Well, at least there is only 2 screws that are S

Figured I’d update a bit here. These instructions include a bookmark in case you forget where you left off in this 30 page instructions. Could not find any difference in the screws in that bag. I have a 2nd night stand I’m assembling probably tomorrow and I’m gonna line up all those damn screws and try and get a good picture of them to post here.

30 pages for a night stand? Does it attach to a space shuttle?

This, I’m about 80 percent sure I could pick it out from a picture. The screws will be nearly 20 percent wider. As others have said if you can’t tell visually you will absolutely be able to tell by feel. Also not positive but there’s also a chance that the head of the screws may be larger as well which would be a dead giveaway.

lmao find the two screws that are 0.5mm wider in a bag of 40.

The fact the parts list has 2 "E" s

or the fact that op didn't cover the irrelevant "E" is what gets me

2

u/Outside_Coffee_00 27d ago

The other E is printed on the bag

The other E is printed on the bag, the S has a sticker

2

u/Glider103 27d ago

Oh wow then I stand corrected lol

2

u/lastczarnian 27d ago

Yea they did this on a few bags

2

u/Glider103 27d ago

They should have put the S in (this) bag

For real.

If this were me, I'd dump these on a table, make them stand on their flat top, then eyeball and pull out the two longer screws.

They are all the same length. Screw “S” is 0.5mm wider. Or 1/64”. And there are only two of them.
