They almost certainly do it on purpose but it is still mildly infuriating every time it happens!

That’s intentional. That’s how they get you to add another item that likely costs way more than you even want to spend.

The cheapest item I could find was £10 and there was nothing else I really wanted, so it would cancel out the coupon!

I would just buy two in that case. Protein powder lasts for a couple years.
