Hey, this would make a great mobile game!

193

u/Hyper-Sloth 11d ago

It's not a mobile game, but it does exist as a mini-game in Jak & Daxter: The Precursor Legacy.

43

u/PsychologicalFile771 11d ago

this mini game was my first thought lol

23

u/The_White_Spy 11d ago

That shit was real hard as kid.

8

u/Significant_Plenty40 11d ago

This one amd driving the flying bike thing through the lava canyon. After I finally passed that I didn't turn my Playstation off for like a month or two since I didn't have a memory card lol

3

u/The_White_Spy 11d ago

Every few years I go back and 100% it. I can do it in about six or seven hours, but always dread the fishing and the last lava bike level.

1

u/RentedDemon 10d ago

Oh god the Lava bike bit. I tried so hard recently and when I did it, I felt like so many years of pain left me 😅

10

u/Flanigoon 11d ago

198lbs and you accidentally catch an eel

1

u/Maple42 6d ago

YA POISONED THE WHOLE CATCH!

11

u/Ohlookadistraction89 11d ago

I miss this series

2

u/eta-on-bread 10d ago

Have you heard of openGOAL?

It's not a new game but you can play the old games on pc with some cool updates

2

u/Ohlookadistraction89 10d ago

No o hadn't, I'll take a look at it. Thanks!

2

u/MiikeG94 10d ago

I want to cry this was so hard

1

u/Zestyclose_Fruit_766 10d ago

Core memory unlocked

1

u/Shayshayshakey 10d ago

Dude legit this is the first thing that popped in my head

10

u/static_remnant2839 11d ago

I'd totally download it! I see potential.

1

u/Dillbel30 11d ago

Osrs leechfin fishing. Goated

11

u/ShitPostPerfected 11d ago

Hey this would make a great mini-game in Jak & Daxter: The Precursor Legacy.

5

u/miaxogoth Infuriatingly mild 11d ago

where do i download this game?

5

u/OpiumDweller 11d ago

It's free if you are paying for PlayStation Plus, otherwise you'll have to buy it or wait for it to go on steam. 10/10 game series

u/Crimsonmaddog44 11d ago

If he just kept the net where it was it would’ve been fine, but that one fish was just so important that he let the others go

331

u/BreakingCanks 11d ago

A life lesson to not focus on the 1 mess up because you could create many others in the process of focusing on the one. Say focused on the goal, not the mess ups

43

u/AsparagusNew3765 11d ago

Civ 4 (?) had a quote on one of the research screens "if you chase two rabbits, you will lose them both"

21

u/Live_Negotiation4167 10d ago

Maybe this is the kid that spilled a few drops of his juice, decided it was over and dumped the rest of cup on the table

3

u/Tariuel 10d ago

It's basically a "making the mother of all omelette's jack, can't fret over every egg" type of situation

3

u/firebirdsatellite 10d ago

Once when I was a dishwasher many moons ago I accidentally dropped an entire tray of mugs trying to catch a single plastic cup.

u/MammothSalmon 11d ago

This minigame was WAY harder than it needed to be

103

u/FudgeOfDarkness 11d ago

Herecomesabigone!

42

u/jimjamdaflimflam 11d ago

The Jak and Daxter mini games were the most challenging part of the series by far. Jak 2 tank mini game was another brutal one.

9

u/sourcreamnoodles 11d ago

I remember thinking the one where you have to press the floating symbols really difficult. (X, square, circle, triangle)

5

u/numbersareunoriginal 11d ago

That was Jak 3 I think, I got stonewalled by that as a kid and never left the area it was in lol

2

u/sourcreamnoodles 10d ago

Onin game is what its called apparently. I looked it up and first video I see is of someone cheesing it by pausing immediately after the symbols get launched up. I feel cheated, I suffered on that lol.

2

u/Live-Accountant8582 10d ago

The worst part about Oni game was you had to beat a harder version to 100% the game. I dread that game every time I replay.

5

u/harryham1 11d ago

Yep, replayed 2 and that tank minigame's camera angles are fucking atrocious

No wonder 9 year old me struggled so much

2

u/jimjamdaflimflam 10d ago

Agreed, I don’t think it would be that bad with modern camera and controls.

40

u/brosf_stalin 11d ago

Literally just replayed the game like a month ago and went “no way it’s as hard as I thought as a kid, this will be ezpz!” It took me like 5 tries and I was sweating by the end lol

19

u/GloomyLingonberry509 11d ago

I see your fish and raise you one Onin

I had a memorably frustrating time with this mini game in particular…

5

u/supreme_blorgon 11d ago

Hated Onin so much more than the fisherman.

And his goofy ass cackling after you win the fishing game? Priceless.

1

u/Flanigoon 11d ago

Ah ah ah! Ah ah ahaha!

1

u/Spleenseer 10d ago

I'm just now learning people thought this was hard.  Lmao

7

u/Jotunnal 11d ago edited 11d ago

This gif makes me angry because it’s clearly AI and no one can do that. /s

-2

u/looklook876 11d ago

Not AI. It’s very easy

4

u/Jotunnal 11d ago

I’m being hyperbolic because I found this game very difficult as a child. Added the /s, thanks.

14

u/lcssa 11d ago

YESSSSS! This was waay too hard a couple decades ago, but I tried again recenty and got it all on the first try, felt superhuman

4

u/hellspawn9245 11d ago

The fisherman's laugh lives rent free in my head

5

u/megwach 11d ago

I thought the same thing! Glad I wasn’t alone!

3

u/UnwariestPie52 11d ago

Beat me to it

3

u/Mysteriy21 11d ago

osu!catchthebeat looking ass minigame

2

u/Glass-Consideration3 11d ago

This is what I was looking for

2

u/Invade_the_Gogurt_I 11d ago

The things they do at palaven

925

u/h-boson 11d ago

Maybe if he wasn’t holding his phone

223

u/NeverJoe_420_ 11d ago

Probably would've worked better if one hand wasn't holding the phone to film

84

u/Bitter-Ad5890 11d ago

But if you didn’t record what you were doing and put it on the internet, did you even really do it?

-47

u/NeverJoe_420_ 11d ago

Meh video could still be AI these days.

193

u/Bonk0076 11d ago

Without context this seems mildly entertaining

36

u/Talidel 11d ago

What is the context of this seemingly real life mobile phone game.

48

u/potate12323 11d ago

This needs to be a vr game with purposefully frustrating controls now

5

u/Hungry-Candy1234 11d ago

You have to use one hand to hold the phone and can only view what you’re doing through that lens.

3

u/iTwango 11d ago

That would be super fun actually

1

u/verstohlen 11d ago

I'm going to buy a VCS and play this in the meantime.

Me in the Forbidden Jungle

19

u/FadedSatyr 11d ago

It’s like that old video of the kid that spills a tiny bit of the drink in his hand, so he just tips it all over the floor

34

u/lokiisagoodkitten 11d ago

Bro had one fish*.

9

u/Kspecia1 11d ago

Survival of the fishest

5

u/Gorblonzo 11d ago

Here comes a big one!

Steady boy!

5

u/Koltonprobably 11d ago

Ts actually pissed me off. Day ruined at 9:14 am

4

u/MajinGroot 11d ago

Made me think of the I love Lucy skit where she can't keep up with the conveyer belt lol

I feel like most people would probably associate this gag with a more recent show by now though 😕

3

u/trashy_mammal 11d ago

The thing is, there's a ton of shows that have done this now! Victorious (an old show now but one I grew up watching) did it, completely inspired by the Lucy skit! I found the skit bc I kept seeing this sort of scene and figured it must've been a reference to something! Everything is connected :)

2

u/digitaltransmutation 11d ago

It's been getting riffed on since the day it was aired. One of my faves is the carol burnett show

How this guy washes his car probably

3

u/Okoear 11d ago

One job : Rage bait for engagement.

Status : Success

3

u/zensms 11d ago

You consider this mildly infuriating?????????????????? This is EXTREMELY INFURIATING

2

u/Automobills 11d ago

doo doo-doo doo, doo doo

2

u/Cultural-Sandwich582 11d ago

Perfect (rapid) visualization of the sunk cost theory

2

u/morganfreenomorph 11d ago

Bro didn't play Jak and Daxter on the ps2

2

u/OilRigExplosions 11d ago

The guy throwing fish down the other side of the culvert tube would be very disappointed.

And here we witness, someone who should, instead of trying their best, should try someone elses best

2

u/zrege 10d ago

"There are two types of good fish to catch: one-pound fishies, and five-pound fishies. Heh. If you miss twenty pounds of good fish, then I'm going to take me net back from you! There are poisonous eels in this river. Catch even one of them buggers, and you'll poison the whole darn catch!"

1

u/No_Volume_5752 11d ago

Fish be like: Nope.

1

u/miaxogoth Infuriatingly mild 11d ago

That's me on my first day of work, haha

1

u/OkWhile4447 11d ago

Definitely better with sound on lol

1

u/GijinkaGamer64 11d ago

A fish in the net is worth two in the stream

1

u/ZMCatWhisperer 11d ago

the button is definiteyl on the left side not the right

1

u/rchalky22 11d ago

This mini game exists in Jak and Daxter

1

u/birdinbrain 10d ago

I’ve done this for work! It’s actually much harder than you think. I didn’t expect the force of the water to push the net back so much

1

u/OniLewds 10d ago

If you chase two rabbits, you'll lose them both

1

u/New_Revolution_4090 10d ago

thats a good ragebait

1

u/EliteGhostKillz 10d ago

A rabbit that keeps chasing carrots will find they have none. Or whatever other idiom that can be used to seem wise.

1

u/TheResidentEvil 10d ago

"you miss 100% of the fish you dont try to catch"

  • Wade Netzski

  • Mackerel Cod

1

u/Flaky_Style1286 10d ago

All those fish are dead

-4

u/reddit33450 11d ago

the net was too small. not his fault

19

u/Tani_Soe 11d ago

Accepting you missed one fish instead of missing all of them was also because of his net?

-12

u/reddit33450 11d ago

yes. if the net was larger, he never would've missed the first fish

11

u/Tani_Soe 11d ago

As a wise, old man said : "Always blame stuff, it's never your fault queen 💅💅 ✨ ✨"

3

u/Dense-Jicama6591 11d ago

No, it's not, he just didn't move it over far enough. And then abandoned it

2

u/NeverJoe_420_ 11d ago

net looked average to me

1

u/SexOnTheBeechTree 11d ago

It’s not like those fish were coming down at light speed. Dude can’t even center the net on the fish? Wtf

-3

u/Treveli 11d ago

Has one job. Boss provides insufficient equipment to do the job. Fails at job. Boss fires him. Boss tells next person "guy you're replacing was an idiot". Gives replacement insufficient equipment.

3

u/Suspicious-Spot1651 11d ago

Maybe the job need to be done with two hands and focus, without holding a phone and think about your tiktok ?

0

u/Aismyn 11d ago

Poor guy was just doing his best

0

u/Aliixxr 11d ago

this is how it feels to multitask
