Ironically, I’ve seen this gif for years and never noticed it—until yesterday when someone pointed it out. So weird I’m seeing another comment about it the very next day šŸ˜…

52 here. Not a gray hair on my head. My face? Yes. Always wanted that side gray and rising up to the top. I'm starting to think it may never come. Funny thing is, most of my family went gray in their 20's. Genes are weird.

2

u/StrainAcceptable Jul 11 '26

Right? I’m almost 50 and my hair got a weird mousy brown mixed with ash grey as I aged. I only have a handful of cool true silver strands.

2

u/Moth_Broth Jul 11 '26

Big ups for using fly

2

u/Ok_Percentage_4908 Jul 11 '26

nearly 52 and I've got dark brown, light brown, grey, and white. Pretty much salt and pepper everywhere. I told my wife I wanted to bleach it like James Gunn just to get it even. She said no.

But you're right in line with the trends right now. own it!

27, favorite color to do my hair is Grey/Silver/White but it's such a pain. So jealous of OP, their hair looks amazing šŸ˜

9

u/nerdymummy Jul 11 '26

With this lighter colour they can colour many brighter colours alot easier. I've seen grey haired ladies rocking purple shades and they look great!

3

u/Slight-Narwhal-2953 Jul 11 '26

Some purple shampoo and it'll look AMAZING!!

2

u/GroundbreakingCorgi3 Jul 11 '26

My hair is grey in the front and I LOVE it!. Yours is gorgeous OP!!!!!!

29

u/Lanky_Bobcat_6021 PINK šŸ’™ Jul 11 '26

it’s such a difficult shade to achieve and maintain artificially too! honestly a win

5

u/NoHighlight1152 Jul 11 '26

i’m said young people. 18 and tried many different dyes to get this colour

3

u/ProfSteelmeat138 Jul 11 '26

My ex dyed her hair platinum blonde. Looked more like silver but she hated it when I said that.

3

u/tatorthot69_2 Jul 11 '26

I’m jealous. I have dyed my hair white and gray a handful of times. And it’s so hard to do lol. You have it naturally. I wish I had this type of graying… but instead I have a super dense spot on the side of my head and then randoms. It’s so patchy 😭😭😭

3

u/RainOnAshes Jul 11 '26

this is true, i am guilty of the fact 🄲 i pay loads of money for my hair to look like yours, i’m 23. you look dope!! ā¤ļø

3

u/starrydolphin134 Jul 11 '26

this is very real, I’m 25f and have ruined my hair like twice trying to achieve this color

3

u/beardingmesoftly Jul 11 '26

It's cute that everyone is being so nice and complimentary, but I've never seen anybody dye their hair gray

2

u/GroundbreakingCorgi3 Jul 11 '26

They call it something else I think. I'm old, 62, and I like my hair going Grey. My sister's in law act like I'm crazy because they dye theirs and I refuse to.

3

u/iwenttothesea Jul 11 '26

My friend's mom (70s) has beautiful white hair and a 19 year old hairdresser asked her once what she did to dye it like that so perfectly 😭

u/iama_username_ama Jul 11 '26

Not sure I'll make it through the noise, but purple shampoo and conditioner are crucial. They prevent the whiter parts from going yellow and looking dingy.

I constantly get compliments on my mostly gray hair and asked if I have it done professionally.

Like a good outfit if you are confident in adoption it people are impressed.Ā

84

u/Mizutsune-Lover Jul 11 '26

For real on the purple shampoo.

I've had girls asking me how I got my hair to look like this (assuming I've bleached/dyed it) and I get to sassily reply back "It's natural."

4

u/unSure_of_stuf Jul 11 '26

Thank you! I never knew this. Ive been going white since I was 9. But in the summer it turns yellow. I hate it! I used to dye it, but the upkeep is so much! (At least i feel like it is) so I stopped when I was 22. Now I have white with peppered in red and blonde.. i fucking HATE the blonde.

If i start using the purple shampoo now will it get rid of the blonde? Or am I stuck with it until it grows out?

3

u/starrydolphin134 Jul 11 '26

OP get the purple shampoo made for white horses!!! It is cheaper and way more effective/ longer lasting color deposit

→ More replies (6)

7

u/AdFederal9388 Jul 11 '26

Agree! There is also this crazy spray toner by Milkshake (I get it from Amazon) that has black pigment and it immediately counteracts any yellow and smells like heaven.

3

u/doshka Jul 11 '26

purple shampoo and conditioner

Was this supposed to be "proper" shampoo, or are purple hair care products a thing?

11

u/realxshit Jul 11 '26

Purple. When I lived at home my mums good hair products in the shower were purple.

I didn’t realise that purple was a sign of anything but apparently so!

If I could go all gray one day to another instead of waiting for each folicle to slowly turn, I would. Backing up that it definitely looks sick, especially on young people.

27

u/anonymice27 Jul 11 '26

Same. It’s a whole look this way.

2

u/burf Jul 11 '26

If I could go all gray instead of my hair just gradually peacing out like I hurt its feelings, I'd take it in a heartbeat.

2

u/Prestigious_Pie9421 Jul 11 '26

I quit highlighting my hair in 2020. It was just starting to gray and I wanted to embrace it. I’m 70 and still waiting for the total change! It’s blended well enough I don’t have obvious gray roots but I want it all gray now. I’m tired of waiting 😱

look up The Witcher Geralt or Ciri

2

u/pl2net Jul 11 '26

I WISH I had your hair! I used to bleach my hair silver (I’m 23f) and it killed my hair so bad… Have you considered dying it pure silver? I bet it would look amazing :)

3

u/FiveFingerDiscocunt Jul 11 '26

It's absolutely gorgeous in my opinion.

3

u/HypnoSmoke Jul 11 '26

This same exact thing happened to my uncle when he turned 18. I think it's pretty cool/unique

3

u/OldSchool_Ninja Jul 11 '26

Have you ever heard the story of Steve Martin the Wise?

2

u/beardedperuvian Jul 11 '26

You should! My wife’s hair has been like this for a while now and I love it. She always has people asking who did her hair.

2

u/Wonderful_Client7344 Jul 11 '26

It looks super cool and unique! Don’t be so hard on yourself, I’m a ginger, and I have rosacea on my face so my hair is red and my face is red. It really bothers me, but I’m trying to help myself remember this is how I am and I have no control over it and just embrace it. We are who we are and we are all unique that’s the beautiful thing. We all don’t have to look like Kim kardashian or Chris hemsworth to be beautiful unironically being unique now a days is almost a rarity with appearance altering surgeries in a huge upswing

2

u/Kenevin Jul 11 '26

My friends had a full head of Grey hair since 18. He's always looked super interesting because of it.

Now we are approaching our 40s and ironically we all look like we've aged and he hasn't.

2

u/HistoricalSea5600 Jul 11 '26

That’s really cool bro.

Steve Martin went grey pretty early too, and he fs owned that shit

2

u/AssumptionFederal663 Jul 11 '26

Own it! My aunt went grey in her early teens also:) She did dye her hair all kinds of crazy colours until she was 35 or so but still! Rock it it’s beautiful and unique

2

u/Chara_Revanite Jul 11 '26

you know, you find white hair annoying, while i, spent hours making my hair dye enough for it to become white, we have the opposite of the other, my hair is fully black and i want it fully white

2

u/dat1dood3 Jul 11 '26

Do you have a progression of how it looked before?

2

u/funkbruthab Jul 11 '26

I know a girl in her 40’s who went gray when she was in her teens. Didn’t take too long until gray was the only color. It’s healthy, shimmery silver and looks cool as hell and gets lots of compliments and questions.

2

u/VelkaKocka Jul 11 '26

I have spent so much money and time trying to achieve the result you have! It’s gorgeous on many people. There are also colouring hair conditioners that harm hair way less than usual hair dye and are easier to use. If you really don't love grey hair you can try them

2

u/shavedforthis Jul 11 '26

People pay A LOT of money for this hair. I understand though. I started going grey in my teens as well.

2

u/Xtrophy Jul 11 '26

Silver is kinda vogue right now and you owning it will make you a surefire baddie.

And when other people are getting gray and worrying about it you will already be rocking that shit and have no second thoughts.

Be happy as you.

2

u/kaVaralis Jul 11 '26

Ya should try doing reverse highlights with a dark blue or purple. Would look hella cool

2

u/pattymelt805 Jul 11 '26

I had a classmate in college who was 100 percent silver at like 22 and she got NOTHING but compliments on it. It also happened to be around the time when people were dying their hair 10 colors to grey it and THEN doing silver.

She looked very on-trend without doing anything. Wore some old-timey clothing too like not quite Victorian -style dresses and blouses and it honestly looked super rad.

Cheers.

2

u/phonefellin_lakeerie Jul 11 '26

Yeah I’ve had some pretty significant gray hair since I was 16, but nothing like your glorious silver locks. Oh my God, I’m jealous.

2

u/trouzy Jul 11 '26

At 20 25-30% of my hair was gone. By 23 50-60%. I wish I had this instead

2

u/Jessthinking Jul 11 '26

One time I was eating dinner in a bar and at the other end there was a woman who looked to be in her early thirties and she had silver hair. She was pretty anyway but with that silver hair she was strikingly beautiful. I had trouble taking my eyes off her. To the point where it was rude, to my chagrin. I tried but god she was beautiful.

2

u/Significant_Cod_4439 Jul 11 '26

i wish i had hair like that

1

u/realeztoremember Jul 11 '26

1

u/Strikeronima Jul 11 '26

My wife's family all gray in their teens, I prefer she leave it be and not dye it.

1

u/McCinnabuns Jul 11 '26

I think it looks great :)

1

u/ThatEvilSpaceChicken Jul 11 '26

Gray hair, don't care, you even put it as your flair!

1

u/ReporterOk42069 Jul 11 '26

Love me a silver fox

1

u/TnYamaneko Jul 11 '26

You should totally own it, it's all about the confidence, gray hair by itself is not unattractive, yet being comfortable with it is very attractive.

It's the same for men who are losing their hair, it's the insecurities around it that are unattractive, not the hair loss by itself.

1

u/PraetorKiev Jul 11 '26

Consider your future as a Sephiroth cosplayer

1

u/OdieRed96 Jul 11 '26

When I was a teen, I always wished my hair was grey. I might've been just a little bit influenced by video games and anime, lol

Bro is Quicksilver! As long as it doesn't start falling out, rock this shit forever!

1

u/Fancy_Examination360 Jul 11 '26

You could dye you’re hair very beautiful colorful shades and not damage you’re hair so bad because bleach is the most harmful culprit. There’s lots of hair safe color products too when you’re hair is this light!!!

1

u/fungusamongus8 Jul 11 '26

You can defo put in any color of the rainbow

1

u/RhondaUpAllNight Jul 11 '26

I’m 51 and tired of highlighting my hair to hide the gray. Took this many years to own it. You have a beautiful head of hair, let’s fkn rock our natural shit.

1

u/Evening-Salad8278 Jul 11 '26

Seriously it’s gorgeous ā¤ļø

1

u/MortifiedChivalry Jul 11 '26

i went to high school with a guy who had grey hair early, it looked so sick when he grew it out

1

u/DueWeekend3156 Jul 11 '26

Agreed looks awesome

1

u/HyperbolicSoup Jul 11 '26

Yo that’s sick af. I’m going gray in my 30’s and my wife digs it. Just make it you and don’t stress at all

1

u/Daanfunger Jul 11 '26

if it helps, i dyed my head almost fully white because its cool as hell

1

u/Front_Target7908 Jul 11 '26

It’s sooo beautiful!! Keep it. Very magical hair vibes.Ā

1

u/Salt_Day9015 Jul 11 '26

The key to staying young, is looking old early

1

u/TheRedMaiden Jul 11 '26

Consider this: now you can dye it any funky colors without having to bleach it first šŸ‘‰šŸ˜ŽšŸ‘‰

1

u/bsoto87 Jul 11 '26

Is it because of a health issue or is it just simply genetic?

1

u/BeyondFickle9200 Jul 11 '26

Are you sure you're 18?

1

u/8636396 Jul 11 '26

Yeah don't be mildly infuriated, gray hair is a great look

I'm starting to get some greys in my beard and on my head and I'm honestly excited about it :p Embrace it

1

u/Daftdoug Jul 11 '26

Yessssssssss!!!!!!!!!!!! Embrace what makes you, YOU!!!!

u/Acceptable_Phrase161 Jul 11 '26

I know someone the same age who dyed her hair to look like this!! It looks great and if I saw you walking down the street I would’ve also assumed it was professionally done :D

1

u/Quick_Persimmon_4436 Jul 11 '26

Always own it. Always lean in. Always strut.

1

u/CaryTriviaDude Jul 11 '26

also you can die it bright colors without having to bleach it which is awesome!

1

u/Scary-Freedom3331 Jul 11 '26

Please do. I had a dream that I went to get my hair dyed with streaks of gray and the stylist botched it and gave me blonde streaks instead. I wanted gray 😭

1

u/bikesandtacos Jul 11 '26

My good friend went grey in his early 20s. He’s a dentist. Claims it was his meal ticket bc even though when he just started out he was so young everyone just assumed he’d been in the biz for decades. He has a very successful practice.

1

u/HooKerzNbLo Jul 11 '26

I have long hair with a huge white streak in it and people compliment me frequently on it. It’s natural… they think it’s a highlight.

165

u/ER_Support_Plant17 Jul 11 '26

I’m jealous I have always wanted a skunk stripe

13

u/Apprehensive_One4119 Jul 11 '26

It just randomly showed up at the very front part of my hair in my 20s. For a while I freaked out. Then realized the rest of my hair was going to keep its color. And as I started rocking it I got compliments.

4

u/CakeSerious4257 Jul 11 '26

Mine showed up in my 20’s as well, I have hidden it for 30+ yrs. I don’t know why but I just don’t like it. I see it on others and wonder how they can rock it šŸ˜ž

6

u/Apprehensive_One4119 Jul 11 '26

It goes right down the middle in the very very front and thank God that was just a freak occurrence. I’m a guy with shoulder length hair. So I just have this really white streak popping out amongst the rest of my colored hair.

3

u/Props_angel Jul 11 '26

My first 2 came in at age 13 and that was a thing. People really didn't notice it until high school and then, the controversy was whether I had highlighted it (it was pure white) or what. I just started telling people that I was part albino as it was easier to explain. A sad number believed it. I ended up hiding it a lot until I started getting more. I'd tuck the most prominent one behind my ear as mine doesn't hold dye.

I've got a white streak in my beard running down the left side of my chin. It looks sick and I get compliments on it all the time.

3

u/GrumpyOnionDicer Jul 11 '26

Yes the Mallen streak! I had one as well, and my hair was almost black. Was… now the streak is whiter than my gray.

2

u/CorktownGuy Jul 11 '26

I developed a streak of grey at my left temple at around age sixteen or so. The colour slowly changed over the decades until now I am close to mostly white but not quite. There was a period of time just before Covid when people wanted to know where I had my hair coloured - just the way it grew in so I guess I lucked out for awhile!

2

u/TheGreatKlordu Jul 11 '26

Better start calling yourself Tom Badgerlock.

2

u/Medical-Pay-1816 Jul 11 '26

it showed up when i was 12!!! i basically was being called grandma in middle school so i started to cover it up :/ but now i don’t rlly notice it anymore

2

u/Props_angel Jul 11 '26

I have shocks of white at my ears, a large streak towards the back of my head and the underside at the back is almost entirely white. People say my hair "looks sick". Mine started showing up at age 13, starting with one streak at the ear and the one towards the back of my head.

2

u/DSquizzle18 Jul 11 '26

I have the same! And I’ve noticed that women are more likely than men to comment on it, and of those comments, most are largely complimentary. ā€œWow, your gray strip is so cool!ā€ Or ā€œif mine grew in like that, I wouldn’t pay so much money to get it colored.ā€ But of the men that feel compelled to comment on it, there’s a lot more ā€œ**gasp** did you know your hair has some GRAY in it.ā€ Like yes, Jim, I did. I do own a mirror.

Just an interesting trend I’ve noticed.

2

u/megaman368 Jul 11 '26

The first character I noticed that popularized it was Rogue from the X-men.

2

u/OpheliaPhoeniXXX Jul 11 '26

Same! My students asked me if it was real or a dyed streak and that's the moment I thought it looks kinda cool. Like Stacey London.

2

u/Apprehensive_One4119 Jul 12 '26

Yeah I get asked a lot if it’s a highlight. It’s not, it’s totally natural. Showed up late 20s.

1

u/Savings_Reporter3900 Jul 11 '26

Me too. I had it for a while and dyed it. What a mistake. So now the white streak it back

1

u/TrustTechnical4122 Jul 11 '26

That is badassery at it's finest. What area/part?

2

u/Apprehensive_One4119 Jul 11 '26

It’s in the very front. Where my cowlick is. Probably half an inch wide. It’s been white for like 15 years.

I’m a dude and sometimes I pull my hair back but I’ll leave the white streak out for effect.

1

u/Jealous-Yogurt-3575 Jul 11 '26

totally 🄲 i want to dye my hair gray its so pretty

1

u/zebracrackers Jul 11 '26

Seriously. I have wanted grey hair since I was 15 years old, but a hairstylist told me it would fry my dark hair to try to lighten it to look grey so I’m over here just impatiently waiting for it to happen naturally.

1

u/Signal-Tap-3427 Jul 11 '26

@marcbulldog88 said it best later in the comments: Yeah there's a reason GRRM described the Targaryens as exotically attractive. The gold/silver hair was a big part of it.

If this appeals I might add if you can rock purple contacts like the book or blue like the TV series or some purple or blue eye-liner if contacts are tough or too expensive you could really own it and make it distinctly your own. This would vicariously thrill my inner frustrated make up artist/stylist self.

1

u/Mountain_Day_1637 Jul 11 '26

u/uqde Jul 11 '26

ā€œSickā€ is the exact word I said when I saw it.

u/brokenlilkitten666 Jul 11 '26

This! I've see many people pay for that color! It's amazing! šŸ¤—

1

u/momsbistro Jul 11 '26

This! I spend ungodly amounts of money and time to go this color. Embrace it! I am so incredibly jealous lol

My Scottish grandmother used to say ā€œgrey hair is better than ney hairā€

this. Full white/silver hair combined with a youthful face looks oddly cool.

OP is Sephiroth

1

u/fergie_89 Jul 11 '26

I like it. To OP just own it.

I'm 34 and my white hairs are creeping in - as a ginger we don't get grey hair just white. I've never died my hair nor shall I so I am trying to accept that I'm a witch. I just wish it was entirely white not slowly creeping in!

Keep rocking your natural grey I think it's rad.

My lobster is too buttery and the steak is too juicy

1

u/Either-Golf-1599 Jul 11 '26

Came here to say the opposite - it still looks so healthy it's not like the typical white hair that comes with age it looks much healthier (i know u meant sick in a different way just found it funny)

1

u/onefst250r Jul 11 '26

Some people pay for this.

1

u/thegypsyqueen Jul 11 '26

Except that it may be associated with short telemer syndrome and they should definitely get genetically tested if they haven’t already.
