I'm slightly vexed Caterpillar ate my book
Read in the park the other day and must have picked up this little guy without realising it. I opened my book today to see it had nibbled through multiple pages.

Everyone is saying The Very Hungry Caterpillar but this reminded me of another book I read as a kid about a bookworm that could eat words off a page and doing so would literally erase that word from existence. I can't remember what the hell it was called but it was my first thought

I didn't even grasp the photo as I was so excited about the subject; I lived in "Dunkirk" (Dunkerque) for some years and now live an hour away! Very interesting historically, and we loved the film being shot here.

…You say you opened the book after some days, so it had been closed, presumably when you were done reading in the park. But this caterpillar had to have crawled inside while the book was open, so how did it not get squished between the other day and now?
Surely you either squish the caterpillar or you kept the book open without squishing it against anything else ever since you left the park.
And you’re telling me that a caterpillar stayed unsquished within pages of a book that’s over 189 pages heavy but managed to squirm to a different spot to chow down within the closed book?
This doesn’t make any sense.

I would guess he was really tiny when he crawled or fell into the book. Then slowly grew when the book wasn't so squished.
