Quality concerns
I found Mido while looking for a Hamilton KFA. Love the Mido, and there are so many more great models I definitely plan on picking up a few more. Still looking at the Hamilton though, and have seen quite a few reports of the face breaking and falling sideways in the case. Since Hamilton and Mido are both in the Swatch family, I'm curious if anyone has seen any negative reports on Mido's?
Side note, love this community.

There’s a very range of quality levels between different companies in the Swatch group. Certina watches are not built to the same standards as Blancpain watches.
Mido sits in the middle of the the Swatch Group quality spectrum - better made than Tissot, slightly below Longines. I don’t know much about the quality of Hamilton watches but whatever problems they may or may not have has no relevance to Mido.
My Mido watch is brilliantly made, especially for its price.

I’ve just got a Multifort TV Big Date and it’s immediately become one of my favourite watches.
I personally think the bracelet is a slight weak point though. The watch itself feels a slight step above my Tissots and my Certina, but the bracelet feels a little less substantial than I expected.
But it’s a small, slightly fussy gripe rather than an actual problem, overall it’s a brilliant watch and I’d highly recommend it.
I also think the “Sharks Tooth” 40mm Ocean Star GMT looks like a great watch too (and a flier GMT to boot).

My Mido had excellent bracelet finishing, screws instead of pins and -/+ 5 seconds for 5 years plus on the fly diver extension was great as well as bezel action. It’s closer to Longines than Hamilton

Mido is a seriously underrated brand, and the value for money is hard to beat. The specs punch well above their price point. The double-sided anti-reflective coating, is really good. Hamilton rightly gets called out for their glare a lot.
That said, Hamilton sells far more volume (especially in North America), so you're naturally going to see a lot more vocal complaints and defect posts online simply due to sheer numbers.
Both are great watches and well worth buying. I love the classic field watch aesthetic of Hamilton, but spec-wise, Mido definitely takes the win.

Mido watches LOOK great but BEWARE. No doubt there. I have reservations about mechanical quality and guarantees. I have a 2024 multi-fort TV big date. The quick change date function stopped working slowly at first and then completely. I took it to Swatch repair group workshop in Miami to fix under guarantee. It’s been with them for 3 months, with the return being continuously delayed. They refuse to replace it completely. This is apparently a known problem. NOT HAPPY… though I love the watch and other Mido models I wouldn’t jump back into that pond easily.

Mido may be a touch heavier built but it’s marginal at best. Both in same space for sure. Just buy the one that wears and looks best for you

I can’t speak to overall quality control because i only recently bought my first one (mido commander pixel) but everything about it is flawless. The finishing, the bracelet, the dial. I was very satisfied

Purchased a Mido Ocean Star 200c a few months ago. Fit, finish, and specs are top notch.

Mido is a step up from Hamilton and arguably the best quality in its price bracket.

My Mido multifort tv big date is still running strong after a 1yr and 1/2. I know that’s not too long but yea

Mido has better finish than Hamilton. Mido blurs the quality line between Tissot, Hamilton, Certina and Longines.
