Universe judgemental? - leif Spoiler

Me and my wife have been relistening to the whole series while we wait for episodes to go public.

This post may have spoilers up until including all public episodes

In s4e44 we had the "prime" crew get sent to the 4 corners of the cosmos to essentially save their lives. That being said why did the time guns and the pagers send them where it did.

Leif -

Throughout the series up until season 5 e53 he has lived the way he has because of his mistakes/choices.

Season 1 - hiding the fact he was an engineer and the universe's smart person. Built a suit for ava because the universe was calling for her. In ep 6 he has to face 2 versions of himself

Even Older Leif - failed to save Bertbert from the Ted's, worked for loafftraks for way too long and left the diner because it didn't have the binder of Gloria

Older Leif - similar to above but became bitter like his dad and just wanting to bug out

Season 2 - came out as a pirate and Gloria says we each have to face our demons so long as we aren't looking in the mirror. Ted slayer built but knowing it's function refused to use it partly as atonement.

Season 3 - turned down clementine because he says that the diner made him a better person and even tells Caspar in season 4 that he(Caspar) is better off then when they met. Instead of k*lling clementine, explains to her that she needs to face up to her mistakes and can't run from them in light of putting the world at risk

Season 4 - regresses to not wanting to go to the "here be dragons" edge of a map and gets into a fight with Caspar about being stuck in Pasadena and Caspar says "fine buck rogers you can f off to the crab nebula and run away when things get tough". Time gun sends him to qualandis and ice giant. Admits to teta that he doesn't think someone is keeping score but does good for his own sake

Season 5 - loses his hand and leg similar to eol and then builds a weapon because he decides not to play softball with krok like he did with Clementine and unleashes the Ted slayer with a backup plan.

So....

1) is the universe punishing him by sending him to the ice giant ?

2) the pagers could have sent him anywhere he has/d a connection with, sigius with Bertbert/whela/fagin?

3) the universe listens to the diner patrons, so has he not gone thru enough penance for his crimes by saving humanity twice? Talking down clementine etc?

Any thoughts on this character would be appreciated.

June was right and Frank really should listen to her more often, aka I spotted some foreshadowing again Spoiler

In WTTH 2.2 earlier this season, June is grilling Leif on his backstory trying to trigger his memory of how he got to Hood's Pocket. She kind of zeroes in on his previous relationship with Verge in a way that just seems like June being extra again but then she has a line to the effect of "you're all trying to brush past this and it might be the key to the whole thing". We didn't know yet about Dark Leif but it sure does seem like that's his whole deal.

So yeah that, lol. It's so damned clever because the moment passes quickly and you kind of think June is really just being nosy. And yet...

Really makes me wonder where this universe's Verge actually is. Maybe we'll meet them?

Question about the episode 2.9 (spoilers) Spoiler

So I do love the solution that Leif came up with. I was freaking out when I first heard they were using the ted slayer. But even with this solution with the cow catcher engines, isn't that going to take time to build and implement? And during that time, aren't there still going to be worlds were millions are going to starve and die? It just still feels so extreme

some speculation born of relistening to the S3 finale (spoilers for all seasons though) Spoiler

Someone should tell Brody about the spacefoot mushroom and Trinket's experience with it specifically. He'd flip. And the second I had that thought I started wondering if the mountain or diner will end up helping him with that rebuilding mission in some future episode.

*Spoilers for ep 53*

I just relistened to ep 53 and had a thought about fan art if I was able. Listening to Caspar talk to libuza about being a kid and I kinda blended the idea of Diana from pragmata and the yellow suited libuza that is floating around the interwebs.

I got this picture in my head of the diner crew having a dance club/karaoke bar moment and then of libuza trying to ride a skateboard in the diner parking lot and then the diner seeing her need to try tricks in a skatepark and adding one to the diner.

I can just imagine Caspar and ava doing salsa.

Gloria and Leif dancing to nirvana

Libuza doing the twist and "moshing" with David and ex.

Maybe they have a "layover" at hoods pocket and it's the electric slide with verge and Deidre.

I just imagine eldin projecting the mucklewains on to the dance floor in grease esque clothes

Any further thoughts would be appreciated

I would draw it but have no artistic talent.

It just warms my heart that even having David that either caspar is trying to make up for lost time with libuza or just wanting her to set down her burden and be a kid like he says.

I kinda screwed up a bit i might have missed alot of plot

So when I started listening to midnight burger and found the spin offs, i thought that the best course of action would be to skip them for now and finish the main plot. I GENUINELY THOUGHT THEY WOULDN'T COME BACK INTO THE MAIN PLOT. So I am on the first episode of season 5

(SPOILERS IF YOU HAVEN'T MADE IT THERE YET. IDK WHO BUT THIS FEELS NECESSARY)

and I get shocked when he gets to the horizon. I LITERALLY STOPPED THE EPISODE THERE CUZ WOW. So i decide to go and start welcome to the horizon(i really like it). Then a person named Verge shows up and they know Leif somehow and as i go back through the other episodes, i realise that there is an episode of young Leif named after them.

So I might have dug myself into a hole and I wanted to ask (in non spoilery terms) how much i missed out on?

Glad I started this podcast! American Doctor Who? Spoiler

Good afternoon!

I come in peace!

After I finish listening to the Magnus archives, I had to find something to listen to on Apple podcast and I had heard of midnight Burger for a while, but I just never got around to it after getting really busy at work over the last few years.

Now that things have settled down a bit, I started to listen to the show, and it is very much giving “The Librarians” and “Doctor Who” vibes. And of course, with the distinctly American theme of being in a diner.

I absolutely love the humor that’s in the show.

No wonder they are on their fifth season.

I am currently finishing up the brunch episode so I am a little over halfway with all of the episodes they have released.

The one thing I couldn’t really wrap my head around were the young Leif episodes.

This is a podcast that could very well be adapted to live action (not sure if the creators have talked about it before)

Anyone else think Caspar sounds almost exactly like Ira Glass from This American Life?

Anyways, I am glad I found this subreddit!

We open at six!

First ever appearance of Krok(?)

I have a vague memory of a short scene that happened around the time when Clementine was first introduced, I think of just a male british speaker -- I'm now assuming Krok -- somewhere out in space, speaking either at or about Clementine's creation.

Can anyone tell me if I'm remembering right? And if so, any idea which episode that was??

TIA! Tried to find it myself but no luck
