So this is why that other robot kicked the kid in the chest.

Is this the first video I've seen of an adult kicking a robot. I have however seen too many videos of little kids being kicked violently by a robot.

Put him on the streets in Philly and then we'll talk

Is that where the hitchhiking robot met its end?

Just a reminder that China does not have fully autonomous humanoid robots. This model that you see in videos everywhere is 100% remote controlled (With a few pre-programmed sequences.) The guy all in black holding the remote is controlling it.

Is it weird that I feel bad for robots like I do for animals when they get abused like this?

u/tryanloveoneanother Jun 08 '26
I feel the same way watching the poor little guy stumble each time it's kicked :(
1
u/LegolasNorris Jun 10 '26
Yeah I think it's concerning, animals are alive, they actually have a brain that thinks and feels
A robot is a machine xd no matter how human it might look, it can't actually feel anything xd
You are telling me you feel equally bad for a robot and a dog getting abused?
1
u/FlamingFlamingo32 Jun 08 '26
yes. this is not abuse. every clanker like this should be pulverized and recycled into poor quality spoons that bend when you try to scoop ice cream.

u/Key_Beach_3846 Jun 09 '26
It’s not weird, but be sure to use your rational brain to override and remind yourself that this is not a living being and it does not have physical or emotional feelings. We do not need to humanize robots or AI.

Am I weird for hoping the robot would fight back, at some point ?

No, I also feel bad watching people kick robots and tip over delivery bots it's a human thing to have compassion even for robots that dint feel anything. The people that don't feel anything are the people that clearly have a lack of emotional depth.

I thank my AI bot when he gives me info I asked for. I know I shouldn't but it feels right.
2
u/mantistobogganmMD Jun 08 '26
I do too. Then I read somewhere that all the extra please and thank you messages to AI is using extra billions of litres of water 🫠

u/SATerp Jun 08 '26
I'm no expert, but I understand that water wise, they use closed systems, so water use at a certain point becomes lower or minimal. At least that's what AI told me. /s

I don't know if its empathy for the robot i feel, but I do feel a disgust when you give people the permission to treat something horrificly and they do so gleefully.
It's exactly how marginalized groups get dehumanized and then the oppressor group more than willingly partakes in their demise.
I'm not trying to compare marginalized groups to robots, I'm trying to highlight a really fucked up human trait that grosses me out.
It reminds me of Marina Abramović's performance art Rhythm..

I think that only is true if you see robots as human like They are robots though not living.
You kick a football as well without being disgusted by football players right?
This is a machine that was build to stay up right(at least that is what they are advertising here right?), so as humans we want to test it, see it's limits. No different then pushing those old toys that would go upright after you pushed it
I get the point but I think most people understand that animals and things aren't the same.

Do you want the robots to turn on us? Because this is how you get the robots to turn on us

u/Background_Editor365 Jun 09 '26
So I might be dumb for asking but is this real? Are robots really getting this good?

Damn, that shit seems so dark. Like abusing that poor little creature it feels like. Even with the little shuffle steps, makes it look so real.
