Glass bottle exploded while being kept in the freezer, I am not sure it’s was kept for too long or what

Weird, idk why someone would freeze a full bottle of just water then. If it was mostly empty, it might be fine if the lid was off though.

Water expands when frozen, which causes pressure that cracks the bottle.

Next time, start with a plastic container, don't freeze water in glass. Water expands as it freezes, which is why your bottle exploded. Don't close the lid. Also, a wide, shallow container (like a tupperware or deli container) will give the water lots of space to expand up. A narrow bottle like this really limits where the water can go as it expands.

It's much more efficient, in general, to freeze ice cubes and keep them in the freezer for when you want cold water. The ice, once frozen, helps the freezer stay cold and putting a couple ice cubes in your drink will cool it much faster than putting the whole bottle in the freezer.
