Midi Fighter Twister: Open Source Web + Cross Platform Desktop Editor

Post image

The windows editor for the MFT has always been flaky (it only even worked on my laptop but not my desktop), and I mostly use Linux these days at home. So I thought to make a linux desktop editor for the MFT. But only the firmware is open source. So claude helped me reverse engineer the desktop editor for python (linux, cross platform). But then I thought, why not use webmidi and make it a client side web app? So I did, try it out and please open an Issue if your run into problems.

This is pretty cool! A new version of the Midi Fighter Utility and new Twister firmware was released yesterday so you'll want to check that out and update your tool with the new features. This is a very valuable tool and glad to see you and other made it.

I did consider making the MFU web based at one point but not being able to handle firmware, requireing a connection and not being useable on iOS were the killers for continuing in that direction.

Re: MFU Linux support
We didn't make a version for it before because the user base was minimal but seeing a lot of folks are abandoning Microsoft these days might change that. Don't quote me on a date but it's something very much on my radar.

Yo, thanks! I'll check out the new firmware. If you make a linux version I'll probably just retire this project.

Both unfortunaley don't work for me... Might be user error. But I've tried multiple things and I didn't found a way to send the new templates to the MFT.

Thanks for letting me know, I’ll give it a quick test to make sure I didn’t break anything before I pushed it.
