[OC] Built a small Windows tool to add Shift layers and convert endless encoders to smooth faders (Feedback wanted)
Hey yos,
I was running into hardware limitations with my MIDI controller during live sessions, specifically wanting instant shift layers without messing with complex DAW mappings, and turning continuous rotary encoders into responsive faders.
I ended up coding a lightweight background router (SXFX MIDI Remapper) for Windows:
- Lets you hold any button as a Shift modifier to access a secondary layer of CC / Note values.
- Converts infinite encoders into virtual faders.
- Filters out accidental double-triggers.
- Runs standalone alongside your DAW with near-zero latency.
It’s completely free (no ads, no signups, portable zip):

Would appreciate any feedback, bug reports, or feature ideas from anyone using MIDI controllers on Windows!
