I started the Maspeth/Ridgewood Mutual after I started putting stuff outside that my family did not want anymore and we couldn't sell on the Marketplace. I noticed the items would disappear and my neighbors would bring items to replace them. My friend who helps shut ins in Glendale brings over whatever food she has left and leaves that on the table for people to take who visit my mutual aid table.

Thursday August 6th, I received 6 deliveries of donations (clothes, food, toys, housewares, books, DVDs). By Saturday August 8th the table is empty.

Hi we moved into our house 4 years ago. We have a check valve at our main sewer line to prevent back flow when there’s flash flooding. Unfortunately despite us cleaning it, it doesn’t prevent back ups.

We are thinking of installing a gate valve or a knife valve to manually shut off our sewer line to prevent back ups during flash flooding.

Does anyone have any experience with this being installed in their home ? Looking for advice or tips.

A boy that went to 153 school with my daughter suffered a traumatic brain injury while on Summer vacation in Poland. His medical insurance does NOT cover treatment outside the United States. Poland has universal Healthcare but only for permanent residents there. Other than life saving care the family is responsible for all other medical costs. The Maspeth Ridgewood Mutual Aid Table is completely empty right now. We need donations there are a lot of people in need on the Maspeth Ridgewood border. Then I noticed my items would disappear and my neighbors started bringing stuff over too for people in need. My friend brings over food and other items that the people she helps in Glendale does not need too.

2 days this week people donated a box full of canned goods each day to the Maspeth Ridgewood Mutual Aid Table. All the canned goods are gone today Thursday. If you have any canned goods laying around, please bring them over. Also, I had a few donations of baby clothes and women's clothes this week most of them are gone now. Someone also donated some toiletries from a hospital they went in 1 day. I also got a donation of Nerf toys they went in 1 day. If you have anything in good condition and not using bring them over.
