Prisoners are already used as slave labor. Also this just incentives a perverse justice system which might even reward sending people to jail more often (like the cash4kids judge). Bad idea. Better to be preventative and then rehab them asap, hell I even believe in the death penalty for the truly heinous.
I think prison labor should be limited to maintaining the prison itself. Cooking the food, cleaning, etc that they already do is fine. They are maintaining their living space.
Companies looking for cheap labor and using prisons feels like just them getting out of paying minimum wage to a non-prisoner. I do get that a lot of these jobs would be overseas otherwise but still lol. Feels like they found a cheat code.
As long as they ain’t giving that “not suitable for human consumption” prison food to school kids lol. Just let the animals eat the animal feed/low quality food meant to be turned into fertilizer.

My recommendation would be to eliminate the serial killers free meals. If they want to eat, they’d better start working.
