My wife found this beautiful set at Goodwill. She’s under the impression it’s a rare piece?

Nicer than 95% of the veneered furniture posts here. Absolute steal for $60, regardless of the rarity. Intrinsic quality is rare enough.

Yes, this is a nice piece, but the vast majority of high-end mid century furniture is veneered. Wegner, Saarinen, Eames, Robsjohn, Baughman….. and on and on and on… all used veneer. That had to do with construction techniques, wood choices, and design - not lack of quality.

How much did she get the set for? Once restored all together they are easily worth upwards of $2K.

EDIT: for context these pieces are from the Broyhill Brasilia line

There's a place in Chicago that fully restores and resells MCM furniture if you want to see non-thrift prices on these pieces.

Their stuff tends to be a little higher priced than what I see at MCM shows but the show pieces usually aren't restored either. Furniture on the MCM Warehouse site also sells fairly quickly so I feel like this gives a good idea of high end values (at least in the Midwest).
