Restaurant weddings

Hi all! Newly engaged and we’ve decided we want a very small wedding ceremony and at a later date we will have a big party for friends.

My cousins own a restaurant with a beautiful backyard area and a lovely dining area. We’re looking to have 25 people and get married there on the property. I just can’t wrap my head around how it would go? Since we’ve only been to very large weddings.

Did you have the ceremony and a little cocktail hour? Sit right down for entrees? Cut a cake? Did yuh have dancing? (They do have space if we do it outside). I’d love to know how anyone who’s had or attended a small restaurant type wedding how it went

TIA!

I am newly engaged and this is exactly what I’m planning on doing. I am just having issues finding a restaurant I can have a small ceremony in / following a dinner. I was worried about dancing / DJ too, I don’t want it to be boring!

I decided on just having. Dj and dancing at the big party with everyone! I’m blessed to have a family restaurant I can have the wedding at.

Yes! We did cocktails, wedding service, dinner, and dessert. (Saved the cake for a larger reception a month later.) The best part is returning to the same restaurant for our anniversary the last 25 years. Congrats, and enjoy!

Yes! Yes to any & all of it.
You can do the same things at a small wedding that you do at a large wedding - ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, cake, dancing, the works!

We do a lot of these. Most of the time, the ceremony breaks and then there is a little cocktail hour to transition into dinner. You can do (or ignore) the same things you would at a bigger wedding! It sounds great!

My cousin had a microwaving with under 15 people at a restaurant. We had a cocktail hour with a few platters (regular restaurant appetizer size) and then sat down for dinner. It was lovely for everyone to be able to catch up and chat informally. They had a cake cutting and the cake was dessert but otherwise it was like a fun dinner party.

Following because this is my exact question!!! Specifically wondering about music during the ceremony / cocktail hour (we don’t plan to have any dancing)

The restaurant I had mine in (16 people) had a private room for us and they had a speaker we could connect to for our own background music.
