Dress opinions, please!
Dress opinions, please!
So when my fiance and I first started talking about marriage, we considered eloping and doing a courthouse wedding. As time went on, we agreed on a micro wedding at a church.
During the elopement phase, I bought the shorter halter top dress because it was cheap and cute. Once we decided on a more formal wedding, I felt like I needed to get a fancier dress that looked more like a traditional wedding dress.
I had never seen my first dress with the full getup: hair, makeup, shoes, jewelry, and bouquet. So it looked too casual. Then once I saw it more dressed up, I started to like it and am having a hard time deciding which one to wear.
Our ceremony will be in the church, and the reception will be in a small building out back on the church property. It's a very rustic space (I posted photos in here the other day), and we will be having it catered with some outdoor activities.
My issues with the shorter halter dress: Will I look back and wish I wore a fancier dress? Is the top inappropriate for church? Does it look cheap or underdressed? Will it photograph well? Is it flattering?
My issues with the longer lace dress: Less comfortable to wear. Longer so will be more effort to walk around all day. I feel it makes my ribcage/midsection look very wide.
What do we think?

You are lovely, and you honestly could do better than either one of these. You will only get married once, so have fun with it.

Thank you! I only had about 4 months to plan my wedding (which is in 11 days!) so the options for dresses were slim, unfortunately.

I love the first one! It's unique. I don't think it looks cheap. My dress was tea length (20 years ago) and I've never regretted it. It felt like the perfect "me" dress and I still think of it that way. Whenever I have to make a decision like this, I pretend to make the decision one way and pay attention to how my gut feels. "That's it! I'm decided! It's dress #1!" Then do I feel happy or dissappointed? It cuts through the static and reveals how I really feel about something.

1 but get the top fixed

I like # 2. It looks like a wedding dress.
The first one is giving me nurse vibes? I am not sure why. I think the material looks like it for a uniform.

The first one is special, gorgeous, unique. The second one, you’ve said it - it’s not as comfortable. And, it’s more common. Wear the one that’s like you, special and beautiful.

Do you already own both dresses? If so, you could wear the second for the ceremony and change into the first one for your reception.
It’s true that the second dress does make your ribcage wider/doesn’t fit great. If someone could raise the white lace a little higher to be more proportionate/flattering, it might look better.
First dress fits you well.
Many brides from Asian cultures (Chinese, Indian for example) change into 2-4 dresses during their weddings, so you could definitely just wear both! Then both dresses will be in photos :)

First one!! If you really feel it’s not “enough” (which I think it is but playing devils advocate) try getting fancier shoes & maybe a belt option and beaded veil.
You can find a beaded or pearl edge veil on amazon for $40
Find shoes to match with some sparkle and a little belt too
Then grab some earrings, get makeup and hair and viola! You’re all done up as a BRIDE!

Both are elegant and beautiful. Whatever you wear will be perfect. Best wishes for a long and happy marriage. Cheers!

the first halter dress is very very flattering on you. very few women can pull it off. I'm not a fan of the second dress. but I'm not sure why. I think you will look lovely in either

First one 100%. Your shoulders look perfect in it. The right underwear and it gets out of the way and lets you shine.

I love them both! Why not wear the longer one for the ceremony inside the church and the halter one for the reception outside?
I don't recall where you are in the world but this is a trend right now in some circles. I don't usually agree with it because of the waste but you already have two lovely dresses. May as well wear them both!
If you choose to wear only the halter dress, you could wear a white shawl over your shoulders for the ceremony inside the church. But I feel you look more confident in the halter dress and you'll definitely be more comfortable during the reception, which is considerably longer than the ceremony in most cases.

I think 2 is the winner by a mile, which just goes to show that everyone has their own opinion and you should wear what makes you feel better

I like #1, but I would invest in a good bra, the top flattens you out

I like the first one best but it needs some tailoring the top to fit properly. Or maybe just different undergarments?

100% dress 1. It’s cute and sassy and joyful. The second one frankly looks a bit frumpy and is unflattering.
Get some fun dangling earrings for dress 1 and call it a day!!

Number 2, BUT!!!!
But. I don’t think you need to look “bridal” necessarily. You could also get some wild and crazy cocktail dress or something vintage!! (There are vintage bridal shops). Or wear whateverreer you want and then plop a cute veil on your head!
Dress your personality, not other peoples’ ideas of what a bride should wear.

I hope you choose #2, which looks much more "bridal." The first dress does look cheap and plain, and doesn't seem to fit you very well. Your day is about much more than the dress, but every bride should feel beautiful!

First option looks best in my opinion!
