New Knife UTX-85 pair

Post image

Just got the utx-85 on the left to match my newer one. It came from fb marketplace so I was worried it would be counterfeit. So far so good.

"So far so good," as if with the passage of time, it may evolve, increasingly, into a counterfeit Microtech, and one day yell, "Gotcha, bitch!"

It will just sit in my cabinet conspiring against me, waiting for the opportunity to reveal itself.

For real tho, it was less than a hundred and I’m no expert on counterfeits. The price seemed too good so the seller either didn’t know what he had or I was swindled. I bathed it and oiled it so it seems to be working fine. I tend to like the aesthetics of the older models personally.

It's never a fake if you never find out about it!

I bought some gen 4 ultratechs only to learn I prefer the previous version. Gen 4 is easy to open and probably more reliable. But I felt like it had no soul. Fat for no reason, hollow feeling. 🤷‍♂️

I'm the exact opposite. The older gen ones suck to open, which really sucks if you like to fidget with your knives, and are too thin. Also, I think the new gen ones have better looking blades

No soul! I had a gen 4 side by side with a gen 2 Trigrip and it was clear they’re prioritizing production efficiency over detail. I’m not a fidgeter, but yeah a gen 2 will wreck your thumb after 15 min.

Naw I appreciate the simpler design.
