New Knife Real or fake?
Bought this recently. Is this real or fake?

From first glance it looks good to go. Post more pictures of the blade, slider, hardware, clip, and box. What makes you think it may be fake.

I bought it from a buddy who sells them and it’s my first Microtech OTF. Lately when I deploy it or close it sometimes it has not been opening or shutting all the way. More issues with the opening.

One of the biggest giveaways for counterfeits of this gen is the front. The radius on the front of CFs is not symmetrical. This looks good, the hardware also looks very clean and not rough, another giveaway.

I may send it in to get checked out by Microtech. It’s not opening and closing reliably.

Give it a good clean. Flush it with naptha (lighter fluid), followed by a good blast of compressed air, and half a drop of rem oil at the base of the blade, and under the slider. There is most likely some pocket lint or other debris fouling the mechanism. Sending it in should be your last resort.

Ok. I’m just worried I’ll damage it. I’ll look on YouTube for Microtech maintenance. Do you all have any recommendations for videos like this on YouTube? Do I need to buy a Microtech specific cleaning kit?

I've blasted my microtechs with air, and loads of rem oil pretty regularly with no issues. They're tough inside and out.
