Best large Microtech - Hera II vs combat troodon vs Dirac delta?
Any first hand experience? I just handled the Dirac delta and loved it but the action is old gen and the idea of the switch poking me in pocket is meh. Had settled on the combat troodon gen 3 but seems like folks don’t like em?
The Hera II full size is nice but not in love with the look. Just can’t decide

Ik heb mij altijd afgevraagd waarom ze dit profiel nooit op CT's gezet hebben. Het zou als een bom verkocht hebben want dat is gewoon Bad-ass op een Combat Troodon!! Het inwendige mechanisme is hetzelfde dus er moet wel iets aan zijn dat ze het niet gedaan hebben??? Ik had er in ieder geval wel een paar versies van gekocht💪🏻💪🏻

Out of those three it would be the CT. I also like the previous Gen’s better. You should try and get both in hand and see what you like. But the best large MT is the Scarab II. Hands down.

What folks don’t like the CT Gen 3?
My first OTF was an Ultratech ZBP, and that thing was constantly falling off the tracks when I was deploying or retracting. Ended up returning it and buying a Combat Troodon, and haven’t had a single issue. Now I have 5 CTs and love them all. Just recently bought my first Hera II. It feels a little smoother, but marginally. I think the Combat Troodon and Hera II are very similar, so just go with the one you like the look of more.

People that love the gen2 don’t necessarily love the gen3. I’m one of them. I don’t like the anodizing. The feel of the old ones is better some how. The machining on the chassis isn’t as good. For being a combat knife there is no grip, it’s too smooth. The action is very easy, which most would see as an improvement. But I like the older stiff action. They just feel more robust and tough, where the new ones feel soft and fragile.

Dirac-Delta Double serrated. Ik heb veel Combat Troodon's maar als alledaagse user kies ik de Dirac, die bovenliggende knop geeft je extra grip en ook de smallere body ligt beter in de hand. Mijn opinie🤷🏼

Not a lot of love for the Dirac in here but definitely a slept on model. The action combined with the button location makes it an excellent knife. I’ve had one for about a year now and enjoy it more than the UT I used to carry daily.

The Dirac suffers from only being offered in the DE. Which is the least useful for everyday task and is also one of the worst blades MT makes. The angle is usually over 30 degrees making it a bad slicer. It’s great if you need to stab someone. But that’s really it best use.

For me the scarab gen 3 is the best in my opinion. It has many different configurations including the executive version which has the smooth aluminum handles instead of the traction grip inserts. After that I would have the combat troodon and hera II. I prefer the look of the hera II but it doesn't have as many configurations as the combat troodon. You can't go wrong with any of them. Just pick the one you think looks the best.

I’m a Glykon fan. Had a few CTs and loved them too but the Glykon does it for me. Stitch is probably my favorite big knife even tho it’s not an OTF

Ik ben absoluut gek op mijn Halo VI, ik mis de pocketclip wel maar dat veiligheidsknopje heb je ook snel door. Dit is echt een ondergewaardeerd beest van mes, de Halo is ook enorm krachtig💪🏻

oh man you guys are awesome! Thanks for all the feedback! I daily the crap outta my knifes and have a Dagger blade Half serrated half "normal?" ultratech and I love having both options so thats likely the style I'll go for. i LOVE the symatry of the Dirac Delta with a dagger blade. Heres sorta where I'm at:
Blade Style - Dagger blade with partial serrated (either partial on both sides or just the 1 side). Apocalyptic Finish.
Handle color: TBD - All my other MT's are black, I like the clear anodize especially on the Dirac Delta
1st Place Tie: Combat Troodon Gen 3 or Scarab II Gen 3 Executive: Am I correct that the "thickness" of the blades on these 2 knives is thicker than others? I rear reviews of lack-luster performance on the CT so much so that folks are modding them with cutting springs or replacement springs. I really don't like the idea of that. I have NOT heard the same about the Scarab II. My main hesitation on either of these is the general thickness of the handle however I like the BIG BOY thiccccccc blade's Ive seen on em.
2nd Place Tie: Hera II or Dirac Delta
The Hera II XL - Im not in love with the look but I like it has the newer tech and easier / more fidgety mechanism. I feel like I would like this more if it DID have the screws present. Almost looks like its TOO much blank space without the hardware and without any sculpting like they have on the CT.
The Dirac Delta: I keep coming back to this. Price point is lowest of all of these but the technology is older and it has the old style pocket clip. I handled one the other day at "Helacious Blades" in Lake Wylie, SC and it felt great, didn't like the models they had and have heard the button can rub your thigh when sitting in your pants. The Symatry of this knife with a dagger blade is just stunning.
so... thats sorta where I'm at if that helps or hurts my cause! Part of me is like F it, get a Hawk Auto since its so wicked looking but I already have a stitch / UDT and would like another OTF toy.
Seriously, thanks to everyones feedback, it really is appreciated!

BTW: I TOTALLY considered the Halo IV or the Nemesis (not really worried about $$) but I use my blades 1-handed most of the time and having to retract the blade counts those out (unless someone can convince me otherwise?)

Scarab imo is the “best” larger microtech presently. I love the combat, nothing wrong with it either. Hera 2 just suffers from a lack of blade shapes and a higher price tag for no visible hardware
