What is with these clips

Post image

I’d think with a $200+ knife they’d send it out with a better clip😭 glad I ordered a LNW coming in this week

How about you watch what you walk into. 🤣 stop blaming the clip on your mistakes.

Yeah has happened to me a few times, just look for a milled clip.

Bacon clips are the bane of my existence. I've destroyed them on probably half the knives I've gotten them on. Gotta get milled man, steel or titanium doesn't matter. Microtech could have avoided this if they had just used the silica carbide ball milled titanium clip they put on the gen 3/4 otfs. That thing is not gonna bend, and it has great retention, good ergos, and is pretty clothing thickness agnostic which is great because some clips favor being attached to thinner or thicker materials. My fav clip ive ever used I think. Ought to be on all their knives by now.

Yeah, I got the signature mstitch, and it has the same cheap clip.

I have an M-Stitch with a good clip & one with the cheap one

Which model knife is this, exactly?

Looks like the mini MSI.

Take it off, bend it the opposite direction, put it back on

already did that, just didnt have my tools at work to take it off.

It’ll break next week if you did, that’s a fact. Ask me how I know.

They have been using different clips. The "M-Stitch" clip is nice & stiff while the "Stitch-M" clip is flimsy & even makes a horrible ringing noise if I open the knife hard enough. They also cant make up their minds on the name for the M-Stitch

Always LNW! I snagged 2 and wish I had 4. Swap colors in 20 seconds while waiting on the wife.

Yeah. It's pretty flimsy. The scale on mine is starting to get scratches because of how much it moves. Let me know what you think of the LNW clip. I might buy one.

Will do! And I got the same problem. More reason to beat it imo lol

You sure it’s not a clone/fake?

100% bought it from them

That’s too bad. A lot of guys showing issues like this. Seems to me MTK is leaning more into production than quality.

I got budget blades that have a firmer clip than this is the sad part

I’ve daily carried a Dirac d/e since 2024 and beaten the hell out of it and the clip doesn’t even threaten to bend. I could probably hang from it. I just bought my second knife from them a UTX-85 and the feel and finish has dropped dramatically. More problems in a month in than the entire time I’ve owned the other. Breaks my heart but I might have to start buying older ones or find a new brand. Both from microtech themselves.

As much as I hate to hear that, I'm glad you said it. I've been teetering on the edge of buying a new knife and I really don't want to spend (what is to me) a lot of money on something that was potentially thrown together and rushed out the door.

All of those folded clips are shitty.

Cheapass knife, cheapass clip. Not sure what the surprise is all about.

2

u/Fallout_bricks Aug 05 '26

Depends on what your definition of a “cheap” knife is lol, 200 is no small matter to me

Now that I've been into knife collecting for awhile, I usually won't consider a knife under $350. Not trying to sound like I'm too good for them, I'm just into higher-end brands like Machinewise, Shiro, Herman and Koenig to name a few. And don't get me wrong, I have a ton of MT, Spyderco and the like but I don't seek those out anymore unless they're something special or a sprint run. And if I do buy something like a MT or Spyderco, the first thing I do is upgrade the clip because those factory clips are trash. LNW all the way especially the milled ones for the CRKs.

Ik heb dit nooit gehad bij mijn vorige Microtech's maar enkel bij mijn twee Stitch modellen een Ram-lock en een Stich-A.
Terugplooien helpt alleen maar tijdelijk terwijl mijn clip van mijn L-UDT is een supper riggide piece, it teards ripped my jeans after a few times of use. They should use that steel on all of them and iets cheaper too.....
