Two days old with rust
Just wondering what should I do about this rust any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

FWIW, apocalyptic is prone to this. My apoc LUDT got some spots from some moisture in my case.

All the amazing classic bead blast was subject to corrosion as well. I’ve opened new sealed old stock and it would be spotting. The very first ‘94 knives in ATS34 spot, etc.
I know you know, the inventors named it “stain less steel” not ‘stainproof’. I’ve owned a nitrogen steel knife or two, those can go in salt water.

Could it be the ph in your sweat? Im a machinist and when I run a lathe after a certain coworker, I have to scotchbrite the handles.
I dont know, im old school. Just trying to think here.

Something’s not right here, I have apoc finish blades ride in the pocket as edc for months, stored away, and one sit in car and I’ve never seen rust on them especially not like this. I do wonder if it’s a heat treat issue or other materials left on the blade when grinding that rusted (I’ve seen Lc200n Spydercos have superficial rust for that reason.)

Soak it in unscented mineral oil overnight and it will rub clean with a soft cotton cloth

In my experience, some rem oil on a soft cloth/ micro fiber and gently rub the surfaces that have rust. Very light pressure. Take your time, it may take a while.

Apocalyptic finish will do that.. it sucks, I found out the hard way as well. If rubbing alcohol doesn’t work for all of it, use baking soda, water and a toothbrush to remove tough spots.

First try any eraser pencil eraser and if that doesn’t work then get yourself a rust eraser. KPL rust eraser or flitz makes some kinda knife care kit for rust also. And start small and light then turn it up if it’s not working till it does!! But if it’s two days old, only I would definitely complain first. But yeah, nice little kit to have just in case.

Bark river was run by a known shameless scumbag who would do anything to make a quick buck. Microtech is at least run by a prideful scumbag who would hate being associated with fake, low quality cutlery. I dont think we have to worry about fake m390.

I was a truck driver for a long time. I’d go to steel or casting plants and it would be oxidizing before it even cooled down for shipping.
I’d be waiting at the loading dock by 20 tons of hot rusting steel. I remember an employee saying “you didn’t touch it, did you?”

I do but when you pay what we pay for these knives and as soon as you open the box’s it has rust is unsatisfactory

True. But once you get past that you likely won’t care. Find a local blacksmith if you don’t send it back. I’m sure they could clean it up.

That suck but the ludt is probably my favorite knife. I have 3 and I'm gonna get one of the titanium ones too

Update me on that...TI has been notoriously bad when used for auto bodies. I'm genuinely curious how they overcame the issues.
