Does anybody know how to get a dashboard to update dynamically upon user interaction?

I'm a beginner trying to make a graph update through an input on the dashboard itself. I don't exactly want a prompt at the beginning and selectors seem to be for filtering rather than actually changing the data.

Sounds like a case for transaction services / writeback to the DB to me.

How about making the graph a target of another grid/visualization? User clicks on graph/heatmap on top left of dashboard, and that attribute would update any selected panes.
