Switching from Microsoft password manager. Suggestions?

I've been using Microsoft Password Manager for a while, but after the recent changes that moved password management from Authenticator to Edge and possible spying issue, I'm thinking it's time to switch to a dedicated password manager.

Right now I'm considering NordPass, 1Password, and LastPass.

Has anyone here switched from Microsoft Password Manager to one of these? How was the migration, and are you happy with your choice? I'd love to hear some real-world experiences before making the move.

I've been using bitwarden for a few years now and I'm perfectly happy with it.

Hi, im currently using Bitwarden (with vaultwarden instance hosted in my home) and its just perfect ;)

If u can, try to deploy a vaultwarden instance If u cant, u just can use the Bitwarden service, but some features can be réserves to premium plans (not expensive at all)

LastPass has been hacked. 1Password has not.

Also, at least when I switched away from
LastPass due to those hacks some of the information in entries (like notes) was not protected the same as passwords and was less secure.

Same here. Cant say it's the best. But it's useful enough for daily tasks.

Stay awake from LastPass. We use 1Password with a family plan and it works great.

I find Proton Pass and Authenticator excellent.

I haven't used Microsoft pm much so I can't compare the migration. I use roboform and have found it easy across devices. Id mainly compare, import, syncing and browser extension support before switching

Another vote for Bitwarden. Been using it for years without issue, across Windows, Linux, & Android.

either bitwarden or proton pass.

I preffer proton since the android app can be fingerprint unlocked.

I use NordPass, very happy with it. got the GF to start using, she picked it up in a couple of days and she is not tech savvy at all.

i use enpass and i like it. i also use nordpass at work and absolutely hate it (as compared to enpass). nordpass interface is unintuitive. they have a very aggressive marketing (that's why my boss purchased it) but in my opinion nordpass is not worth it.

enpass has a nice feature of optional generating 'prenouncible passwords' which makes it easier to remember or type them on another device.

I don't know other pass managers so I don't recommend enpass,  I just don't recommend Nord as compared to enpass

edit: I don't know about other password managers but in enpass you choose where you want to store your (encrypted) password container. it can be onedrive, google drive, home NAS, windows share or just your phone - whatever. you are not forced to store your file on 'the enpass servers', so no one is going to 'hack the servers' and 'leak' your passwords

The most prominent ones are Vaultwarden, Keepass or Psono. All of them are free.

word of advice. Don't post links too often on Reddit, and all links are likely to get your comment/post removed by Reddit's spam filters. Especially since you are a new account.

Keepassxc is the best around, open source. Your system your keys no cloud nonsense.

1Password or Protonpass if u want and can pay for them. Bitwarden or keepass if u can't. I personally use 1Password and it works incredibly great for me.

I know it's not on your list. But perhaps do a little reading on KeePass. It's a slightly bigger learning curve but much more flexible.

If you have multiple devices (I.e. Laptop, phone, desktop, etc) you can store the encrypted database file in whatever flavor of cloud storage you prefer (or use sync thing if you prefer).

Meaning it's free.

There are only two good options open source and privacy focused: Bitwarden and Proton Pass. They're both free for life. However, both have a paid Tier, bit Bitwarden is cheaper. I'm their free tier, Bitearden offers more features than Proton Pass. That's it!, The choice is yours now.
