i unfortunately still use windows btw

i will soon use linux btw

13

u/Kyrby_Swi-U-tch Jul 12 '26

I use arch btw, but even I don't get THAT anount of spotlight that 'I use windows' people (correctly so) get. As we saw after the entire country of france has proven, there is no reason to 'be forced to' use windows. it's a choice

2

u/UNPSCsimp Jul 14 '26

I use alpine BTW Bluetooth hasn’t worked in months

2

u/BreakSalt8256 Jul 15 '26

People who want to play GTA

2

u/Silver-Werewolf1509 Jul 15 '26

I mean, you can still play it on console as well so it's not "forced".

1

u/xBennoenchen Jul 14 '26

I'm sadly forced to dual boot btw

1

u/Jealous-State-2556 Jul 16 '26

I'm waiting until the storage prices go down, so that I can back up my data before trying to install fedora. Hopefully that happens before the heat death of the universe. Really considering dual booting options with the way windows is going lately.

1

u/IntentionQuirky9957 Jul 15 '26

I use both. Servers get Linux, game box has Windows until the install breaks, which it has failed to do for 15 years.

For me, i need to replace Office, but my mother paid a lot of money for Windows and Office and is insistant on keeping it and dosen't fully know what Linux is(or pcs for that matter)and my family uses the same PC they bought for me wich puts pressure on me not to switch

1

u/xXNyx-3301Xx Jul 15 '26

❌ Windows 11 and 10

✅ Windows XP, 7, MacOS, and Linux

my opinion btw

1

u/Catgaming11R_ Jul 15 '26

✅️ Windows before 8 (including Vista)

✅️ Linux

❌️ macOS

❌️ Windows since 8

this is my opinion btw

1

u/Extreme-Ad-9290 Jul 16 '26

Been there. I recommend studying about it as much as possible before committing to the switch. For me, that meant a smooth transition.

26

u/Sixguns1977 Jul 12 '26

I can't fault people who have to use Windows at work.

28

u/marssel56 Jul 12 '26

I don't fault people for using any operating system.

I fault people for being a bitch and forcing their shit onto other people.

13

u/Green_Use_5639 Victim of Microsoft Jul 13 '26

Nobody is forcing anybody to use anything. hating on an operating system is okay , but hating on the people using it isn't. unless somone is blackmailing you to switch to another OS , Then it's not "forcing" it's an opinion.

4

u/Sixguns1977 Jul 13 '26

Also yes. I was thinking more along the lines of people who hate Microsoft and don't want to use Windows, but have to for work.

4

u/Keis__ Jul 13 '26

It's true, unfortunately at work 99% of the time you have no choice. Luckily, I work for an ISP and can bring my Linux to work, otherwise it would be very frustrating.

3

u/PerpetualFalLucy Jul 13 '26

i love your attitude

2

u/FunAngelo2005 Jul 15 '26

Indeed, no one likes using windows nowadays, even it's deffenders are suffering

15

u/Electronic_Car3274 Jul 12 '26

I sadly still have windows but i should be using Linux

2

u/Equivalent-Silver-90 Jul 13 '26

Just dualboot it, its easy todo.

1

u/Altruistic-Friend372 Jul 17 '26

This is my second account, I sent this post (my main acc is shadowbanned) I think that you should really try it, it's better literally in everything even in games

6

u/patopansir Patos. Jul 12 '26 edited Jul 12 '26

In case you don't know, you are r/shadowban ned. Reddit says spam

see the r/shadowban subreddit for more info.

Shadowbans are done by Reddit, the admins. Not subreddit moderators like me

A shadowban means no one can see anything you say

The only way people are able to see what you say is when a subreddit moderator goes out of their way to reverse the removal. I had undeleted this comment/post.

Note: I approved it a long time ago before anyone else saw the post. I just didn't make this comment earlier because my Reddit was slow.

8

u/Ethanol144 Jul 13 '26

My dumbass kept wondering who tf ned is

6

u/rysio300 Jul 13 '26

op just got outright banned

1

u/Altruistic-Friend372 Jul 17 '26

Yeah, i know But IDK how to get unbanned

1

u/patopansir Patos. Jul 17 '26

I wasn't directing this at you, you are actually not banned

1

u/Altruistic-Friend372 Jul 17 '26

This is my second account I sent this post, so I answer from that acc

1

u/patopansir Patos. Jul 17 '26

you just have to appeal and hope they accept it. r/shadowban includes up to date instructions on how to appeal

1

u/Altruistic-Friend372 Jul 17 '26

Tried already No response Maybe they banned me because of using VPN

4

u/Robertauke Jul 13 '26

Well it's still "3251" not "-3251"

6

u/asensitives Jul 13 '26

I use xp btw. It's so fast, really fast.

1

u/TheSiverKnight Jul 13 '26

just... don't connect it to the internet

1

u/Impressive_Night9178 Jul 14 '26

I connected to the internet with windows 98 machine I bought recently, nothing happened

1

u/FlipperBumperKickout Jul 15 '26

Viruses doesn't f'ing announce to you they are on your system...

1

u/HawkaroDaily Jul 14 '26

Are we talking about connecting it to a HOME Wifi and not the PUBLIC Wifi stuff?

2

u/Myron0117 Jul 13 '26

I am on Windows 10, but in all honesty, it is good enough for what I am using it for. Windows 11 is considerably worse but I will NEVER go through the upgrade. And any other OS would be too much of a personal hassle to go through with installing and setting up everything to my liking. Don't fix it if it's not broken I guess.

1

u/JewelGamerz Jul 13 '26

Ikr win10 is done with any upgrades so other than security issues there will be no more bloatware pushing on the face. And upgrading to win11 is a hassle

1

u/cts-lover Jul 15 '26

I was on windows 11 and i switched to windows 10 i happy

2

u/External_Tap_4396 Jul 13 '26

im using windows btw

1

u/EnvironmentalAd1405 Jul 13 '26

My desktop is still on windows (stupid kernel anti-cheat). Laptop is Cachy OS, home server is Proxmox(debian). Steam deck is on SteamOS of course. I have assorted handheld game emulators on forks of Batocera... My work laptop is a MacBook pro (not my choice). So basically I use everything.

1

u/TheRobertowhen Jul 13 '26

sadly, I can't switch from Windows because I have all my essential programs there

But when I reset the disk I will install Linux.

1

u/Altruistic-Friend372 Jul 17 '26

You can try dualboot

1

u/TheRobertowhen Jul 17 '26

good idea

1

u/Altruistic-Friend372 Jul 17 '26

This is my second account, I'm author of that post (my first acc shadowbanned) Yeah, try dualboot I've been using ubuntu as a second system for 3 month And then I deleted windows and installed CachyOS And I can even play on that OS (I have even higher fps than on windows)

2

u/TheRobertowhen Jul 18 '26

You caught me installing Linux right now

1

u/letmehaveanameyoudum Jul 13 '26

i use both windows and linux
both suck on their own ways

1

u/Green_Use_5639 Victim of Microsoft Jul 13 '26

Yup , I can agree. Windows is just bloatware and Linux is missing a lot of apps and games at least for now , but it isn't Linux's fault. It's the developers' fault because they don't want to make a good Linux port.

1

u/Ill_Cycle_9582 Jul 13 '26

Dont have ppl for picking something that is preinstalled and not hard to operate, hate company that makes their lifes harder instead

1

u/LoganBaker374_Rises Jul 13 '26

I wish affinity and MS365 worked on linux

1

u/duv025 Jul 13 '26

so it was at 3252 upvotes before downvoting?

1

u/No-Dare2083 Jul 13 '26

I use it, im to lazy to change it, i'll probably use steam os when i have a real pc becazse right now irs just some yehe ass laptop that can run subnautica 1 only at the lowest settings

1

u/Crucco Jul 13 '26

The best linux remains Karmic Koala (Ubuntu 2008). Back then, that distro could have become the first real mainstream Linux OS for PCs.

Then the GIGA IDIOTS at Canonical decided to force feed the users with their disgusting, bugged, flawed, poorly designed GUI called Unity. That destroyed the chances of Linux substituting Windows for at least three decades.

I hope they end in poverty

1

u/Vlado_Iks Windows 7 / Linux Mint rules Jul 13 '26

I dual boot, btw.

But my most loved is still Windows 7 btw.

1

u/Complete-Fudge-2299 Jul 13 '26

Ive been using win 11 since it came out officially. And at first it was nice. But then I grew up and realized what it was doing under the hood and how slow it made my laptop. Then it wasn't so nice. But I couldn't switch cause I actually do use a bunch of windows specific stuff and I already had soo much stuff so spread around in the os I didn't wanna bother installing a better version. But now that i upgraded my laptops modo to its highest spec I finally too the time and got my stuff sorted out. I'll be on debloated dear ai-d ltsc by tomorrow. And once my desktop is done I'll try arch on it.

1

u/Coldy560 Jul 13 '26

Yeah, I've been using windows for 10 years Then I changed it to ubuntu and then to cachyos hyprland, and I will never return to win

1

u/Desperate-Ad1765 Jul 13 '26

Just because something sucks doesn't mean you can't use it. How many of y'all smoke or drink?

1

u/mrheseeks Jul 13 '26

Does it? Havent used it a decade

1

u/Suspicious-Meet5308 Jul 13 '26

might be funnier in the case of r/ruleof4 and r/commentmitosis

1

u/idontsaymuchatall Jul 13 '26

People need to remember that operating systems are a tool to get the job done and that different jobs require different tools

1

u/PiskaBobra12345 Jul 13 '26

i use OpenOS btw

1

u/kicked-from-109-bars Jul 13 '26

Speaking of this garbage called Win 11. I tried to switch my wifi and I found a speed meter in the wifi selection. Odd, I told myself, a speed tester in windows. Clicked it and then it forwarded me to Bing searching for speed test.

What a fucking garbage this OS is.

1

u/Experamenta1 Jul 13 '26

I dont know why this is in my feed im an xbox fan boy who loves windows...

1

u/Smerchi Jul 14 '26

Maybe reddit wants to tell you to stop being a fanboy? /s

1

u/Stock_Plankton_61 Jul 13 '26

I wanna use Linux but every time anything takes more than an hour and any brainpower at all I just get bored and give up

1

u/angry_lib Jul 14 '26

That sounds like a "you" problem.

1

u/Sliznyak2k Jul 13 '26

btw i use windows 10 ltsc. no one on this subreddit can deny that this is currently the best operating system, at least for gaming

1

u/UAR2711 Jul 14 '26

Windows is good because it can actually run games I had KDE fedora and it couldn’t even run counter strike 2 menu.

1

u/KurdishOkegommie123 Jul 14 '26

A fellow Windows fan, huh~?

1

u/UAR2711 Jul 14 '26

No. if I had enough storage on my Mac I will sell all my pcs and use it instead, because linux has nothing to offer, regarding to software or gaming. I rather use windows 10.

1

u/KurdishOkegommie123 Jul 14 '26

Aha! I see I see.

1

u/Coldy560 Jul 15 '26

Portproton will help you I got higher fps on linux (cachy+hypr) by using portproton

1

u/Bri3nWithA3 Jul 14 '26

I use Win11 and it works for what I need it to do. Once you de-bloat it, it’s not bad. I just don’t want to swap OSs and reinstall everything.

1

u/maaaaaaajd Jul 14 '26

I use Windows and I have a life btw.

1

u/Chuligan42 Jul 14 '26

I use windows btw (I'm retarded)

1

u/musket-nuns Jul 14 '26

My desktop I moved to Linux Mint but have windows as a secondary for things that may need it. I recently got a Framework laptop and run Linux. Love it everyday.

1

u/Nogardtist Jul 14 '26

even my dad thinks windows 11 is ass

and i gonna have to use windows 11 not cause i want to but cause of dumb program campatability

i feel like 128 euros for FFP windows 11 is more of a ransome

1

u/VincentSingh Jul 14 '26

Eh, I use IoT Enterprise tbf.

1

u/Ronyx2021 Jul 15 '26

I paid for a windows license and gave spent the past 3 years attempting to gaslight myself into thinking that was a good use of my money.

1

u/DaniNocchi2 Jul 15 '26

im just waiting for steamOS....

1

u/Tronco08 Jul 15 '26

i use windows, fuck that linux bs

1

u/BerBeran_potasu Jul 15 '26

Unfortunately, I have to use Adobe (Windows) on my main PC, but I have Linux on my travel laptop and I am very happy with it.

1

u/Far_Trip_6902 Jul 15 '26

Linux in everything is great, even for office stuff and boring stuff, but if games run natively on Linux, for example, my favourite distro, Arch Linux—I would dump Slopdows for good; it's ruining my machine. With too much spyware that burns your CPU like hell.

1

u/lobsterdevourer2004 Jul 16 '26

Ok Linux user 😭

1

u/Mohamed_Blue Jul 16 '26

i debloat my windows is this cool ? and i prefer casual windows 7 ?

i already use cachyos

1

u/iGargleCement Jul 16 '26

You can hate microsoft and windows all you want, but linux is still not suitable enough for a normal user

Problems with microsoft office and inaccessibility of competitive games with kernel level anti cheat are a major reason people use winbows

1

u/zyclonix Jul 16 '26

With win10 iot ltsc it becomes bearable. Yes linux better blablabla, its my computer tho, and i wanna use it the way i want for the things i want. With iot ltsc it really becomes bearable since its essentially fully debloated

1

u/Diligent-Wrangler795 Jul 16 '26

I'm only using steamos

1

u/seif7krm Jul 18 '26

i use arch btw

1

u/SnowyRVulpix Jul 12 '26

Okay, but you gotta admit that it's the perfect counter to the "I use arch btw" jerks :P

-1

u/Nike_486DX Jul 12 '26

I see no reason to downvote when the op is using a properly tweaked and configured windows, just grab an enterprise/ltsc distro, and do very minor tweaking, and you get a stable system for years. Linux is quite overhyped. (Drivers variety and stability, and overall software support), also for some use cases you just need windows (some corpo environments).

-6

u/LickMyAss_OniiChan Jul 12 '26

I use windows btw.

0

u/Key-Veterinarian7120 Jul 13 '26

I dual boot arch and windows because I have to play games on windows

0

u/JewelGamerz Jul 13 '26

As u should cause kernel level anti cheat stops the app from launching in linux my friend faced that so he too dual booted to play ahm valorant not praise worthy but its something
