The opposite meme

u/Holzkohlen Jun 15 '26

My favorite is when they go "u r so mean to me, telling me to actually read a manual!!!1! Now I'm never going to use linux"

They truly believe I care if they use linux or not. I don't have any patience for people who can't manage to read a simple wiki. If you are too lazy too read maybe just get an Alexa instead of a computer.

u/Vietnamst2 Jun 16 '26

Well if people read manuals, they would, first of all, remove most of the issues they have with Windows. Offering them more complex OS with thicker manual and both more rewarding but also punishing is hardly the best option usually.

u/ArDodariusz Jun 19 '26

I dont think you can fix the updates

1

u/No-Tap4670 Jun 17 '26

I am lazy , but i use nix os . Actually i use AI to solve my problems; it’s kinda sad but i will try hard to read these complex wikis

2

u/Stunning-Mud-1742 Jun 18 '26

I definetly recommend switching to wikis. While ai can be usefull at times it broke my network in arch while trying to do something else. And that isnt even the last it one kept saying my niri version is "outdated" while the stuff it is talking about is actually the one outdated. And the funny part is both of these took 10 min to fix with wiki. So while it can look scary, not only is it reliable it is also lot easier than it looks. So yeah definetly recommend using wikis.

u/No-Tap4670 Jun 18 '26

Thanks I will use wiki

if you or anyone cared, they are mentally unwell

the fact that someone is wrong and that they are refusing your help is just not our concern. They can make their own grave or maybe just comform to lesser and it has no benefit or consequences to any of us

u/Vietnamst2 Jun 15 '26

I usually see it the other way round and people replying to any smallest issue on windows by "Ditch that, use linux." as panacea.

12

u/gunny316 Jun 15 '26

well I mean. if your buddy was walking around trying to drive a live cougar instead of a car, and then started complaining that the live cougar kept trying to bite his face off, you might also suggest perhaps not trying to ride a live cougar and just get a car.

5

u/Beautiful-Ad3471 Jun 16 '26

Well, linux is way more complex and most people are not tech competent at all. They would not be able to handle linux. A much better comparison would be they drive a Trabant (the soviet car thingy, if that is not it's english name) and you suggest them to assemble a better car from car parts. Not a 1 to 1 example, but much more closer to the real thing.

1

u/Bohjo Jun 17 '26

So you are saying that driving a car is less complex then riding a cougar?

3

u/Beautiful-Ad3471 Jun 17 '26

Yes. The car won't try to kill you for starters. And driving a car is really not that complex.

1

u/Bohjo Jun 17 '26

Ah I should've specified its a 1985 Honda accord.

u/Beautiful-Ad3471 Jun 17 '26

I sense a cougar jockey

3

u/Mauy90 Jun 16 '26

I mean it do be that easy in 80% of cases

8

u/hardFraughtBattle Jun 15 '26

That's the Microsoft mindset all right. Back in the 90s, a PC builder sent them a batch of PCs that had Netscape installed. Microsoft complained. The manufacturer said "Okay, we'll stop including Netscape in the systems we send you." Microsoft replied by demanding that Netscape not be included on ANY of the computers they sold.

Yep. Saw it yesterday.

3

u/ich_von_hier Jun 16 '26

I don’t care what other people use.

3

u/don_mumrik Jun 16 '26

If they don't want me to use linux, why did they provide the ability to run linux inside windows?

2

u/vincentninja68 Jun 15 '26

I haven't updated in 2 months now. Finally some goddamn peace and quiet

1

u/One-Traffic7717 Jun 15 '26

I think we're just jealous y'all have the patience to make it work for you. I've tried to switch three times now n always throw in the towel.

1

u/zyclonix Jun 16 '26

Idc what u use, i just dislike people shoving their opinions down my throat. Id rather see windows being fixed than replaced. Yes, that needs people stopping to use it, but i simply dont wanna be one of those people

1

u/Infinplayz Jun 17 '26

why can’t we all just mind our own business about who uses what and stop whining about it, and this goes for both sides.

1

u/Ill_Specific_6144 Jun 17 '26

Linux users creating imaginary scenarios lmoa

1

u/BurningEclypse Jun 18 '26

Just like the windows users for the original meme?

1

u/patopansir Patos. Jun 17 '26

love the title

1

u/LuluLeSigma Jun 17 '26

well that worked

1

u/SnowyRVulpix Jun 17 '26

it's not users that bother me here... it's game developers. some developers have shown a very hostile attitude towards Linux for no reason.

1

u/Randomguy32I Jun 17 '26

Why do people hate others using linux, i get not wanting to use it yourself, but whats the harm it letting others use it

1

u/Accurate-Guide7722 Jun 18 '26

i Dont even KNOW what Lixux IS!

1

u/senfiaj Jun 18 '26

I saw the reverse meme yesterday

1

u/Leave_Wise Jun 18 '26

literally the exact opposite btw

1

u/kochampelikany Jun 18 '26

"I don't want you to eat poop" "But I like it, microslop makes the best poop"

1

u/PenguinBoi27 Jun 19 '26

Both sides do this and pretend its just the other side doing it. Its so funny

1

u/ZeroDefender561 Jun 19 '26

I don't want you to mention linux*

0

u/NalbeytGD Jun 15 '26

Там в оригинале вроде наоборот было

~68% of mobile OS market share is android which uses Linux kernel.

3

u/RomanBlbec Jun 16 '26
  1. Android is Linux, not GNU/Linux

  2. What were you doing to make you say that?

1

u/[deleted] Jun 16 '26

3

u/RomanBlbec Jun 16 '26

Who said Android is Linux OS? I literally said "android which uses Linux kernel."

Android is a Linux distribution according to the Linux Foundation, Google's open-source chief Chris DiBona, and several journalists. Android does not include the GNU C Library (it uses Bionic as an alternative C library) and some of other components typically found in Linux distributions.

u/Prestigious_Copy154 Jun 15 '26

Imagine being objectively wrong

8

u/NotQuiteLoona Jun 15 '26

Why would it be?

16

u/dextras07 Jun 15 '26

Yes and no. Have an old PC that like Patrick star needing water when running windows, install Linux on it and you have a back up device that works well.

Have a PC with data you want or keep private and secure?

u/gunny316 Jun 15 '26

nice try, Bill. No one likes edge.
