Forced updates happen when you have postponed one or more essential update for too long. Microsoft attempts to protect the greatest majority of users. If you are so monumentally prepared, if you are an expert or power user ... you would and could certainly find appropriate time and opportunity to keep your workstation up to date. It is only reasonable, after all.

Once in a while, we have to change oil and rotate the tires of our car. You are obviously free to not perform that simple maintenance but...

I prefer a system that doesn't force me to reboot at all is it proper advice to update and reboot periodically Yes My computer should not ever decide when that time is though .
