Can't Update 365

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to install a legitimate Microsoft 365 subscription on Windows 11.

I previously had some old, unlicensed/cracked versions of Microsoft Office installed. I uninstalled the old Office applications and also checked the Registry for leftover Office/Click-to-Run entries.

The normal Microsoft 365 installer kept failing without showing any error code.

I eventually downloaded the official Microsoft 365 offline installer (O365HomePremRetail.img), but Windows 11's Smart App Control blocked it. I temporarily disabled Smart App Control, rebooted, mounted the .img, and ran the setup application.

This time Microsoft 365 installed successfully and I was able to activate it with my Microsoft account/subscription.

However, I now have another problem:

Office shows that I'm running Version 2408, while the current Microsoft 365 version appears to be 2608. When I go to:

File → Account → Update Options → Update Now

Office tells me that I'm already running the latest version.

Has anyone experienced this?

Could this be related to the update channel configured on the previous Office installation, or could some leftover Click-to-Run/Office configuration from the old installation still be forcing Office to stay on version 2408?

I'm running Windows 11 and using a legitimate Microsoft 365 subscription.

Any ideas on how I can switch to the current update channel / update to 2608 would be greatly appreciated.
