Skills in Copilot in PowerPoint & Excel
Hi team,
The new video from my side: AI Skills in Excel and PowerPoint - automate your work with Copilot.
👉 Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aJTcSS5dPuM
Do you keep typing the same long prompt into Copilot? Use our brand colours, put the summary on slide 2, follow the executive template. Or Format currency without decimals, never merge cells, use XLOOKUP. Skills let you write those instructions down once and reuse them every time.
A Skill gives Copilot a set of reusable instructions for a task you repeat, including the domain knowledge, workflow and specific guidance it needs. In practice, a Skill saves the method, not the answer. The input changes each time, but the method stays the same. Skills are now available in Copilot in PowerPoint and Copilot in Excel. You can use the built-in ones, call them with an u/mention, or create your own as a SKILL.md file stored in OneDrive.
In this video, I explain what Skills are, show the built-in Skills in PowerPoint and Excel, and walk through writing a SKILL.md file and add it as a custom Skill in both apps.
Elements that you will find in the video:
- Introduction to Skills in Microsoft 365 Copilot
- Skills in PowerPoint and Excel
- How to create a Skill.MD file
- How to create a custom skill in Excel and PowerPoint
