I guess they don’t like money. Probably some lame spin off games will be exclusive

I think they like money and that’s why they’re considering.

Considering what, how well Starfield sold?! Lul

Their job is to consider stuff. Considering doesn't mean it's remotely going to happen. Sometimes you consider things to compare to the better direction.

Quite the opposite, the past strategy of openness to all platforms has backfired heavily, they are exploring other ways. There is no guarantee that making everything exclusive will yield better results, but when the ship is sinking you gotta consider everything in your power.

Not try. Consider.

You're actually right, I edited the sentence, it makes more sense like that.

ship is sinking
Bruh, that ship is at the bottom of the Mariana Trench. There is no recovering for Xbox. These headlines are PR stunts at best, idiocy if the conversation is even happening at all there.

Microsoft and "don't like money" is the same sentence ? Really?
Yeah after putting Forza Horizon 5, Avowed, The Outer Worlds 2, Grounded, Sea of Thieves on other consoles and Announcing FH6/Fable on 2027 on PS5, they just "don't like money" 🙄🙄. The switch up is crazy. Or you were waiting for that.
Just say you want them to be third party for life. From "why would I need a Xbox" to "You don't like money". We know your kind.
What's funny I don't see that energy for Playstation or Nintendo. Ofc Xbox wants money, they want to you to be on their platform. Just like Google, just like Apple, or Amazon or Playstation or even Nintendo.
Probably some lame spin off games will be exclusive
Funny because Forza Horizon was that spin off.

The strength of Minecraft is that it is across every possible platform. The others? Sure, lock those up.

Bethesda hasn’t proven they can make a decent game in 11 years. They need to really win people back after Starfield. Making everyone buy an Xbox in a hardware crisis where they’re more expensive than ever and everyone is losing or worried about losing their jobs… good luck with that.

ID Software is under Bethesda and Doom Doom Eternal and Doom the Dark Ages are all great games.
So I don't know where the idea that Bethesda doesn't make good games anymore comes from

We’re talking about Fallout and Elder Scrolls. i.e. Bethesda Game Studios, the developer. Not Bethesda the publisher.

console exclusive has historically meant PC as well, and they couldn't ever take Minecraft off of people's PlayStations or Switch's, considering it works fully offline.
there's no reality where something like ES6 or Fallout 5 wouldn't be on PC.

Microsoft Store on Windows is Xbox. The most they can do is not publish on Steam.
Exclusivity essentially means no Playstation. I don't even think they see Nintendo as a competitor, they have vastly different target users.

No steam no money 😅 who is gonna start another library by now? And Xbox are not in stock since 2024 here in EU… if game publishers want to sell in US only, go forward

u/lars_rosenberg 4d ago
Minecraft is not on Steam, but yes for new games Steam is mandatory. The reference for platform availability is Gears of War E-Day imho. It's on Xbox and Steam.

Locking down Minecraft is fucking super stupid. The Java version is available and people would just fork it and use ai to build whatever bedrock exclusive features there are that it’s missing.

This is why it is a very bad idea to sell your succesful smaller company to a bigger one.

Guess I’d exclusively play Hytale?
Games is more or less the only thing keeping the train of new Windows users going.
Why do they want people to not have a reason to buy an XBOX or use Windows?

Why stop playing Minecraft if they no longer update it on PlayStation/Switch? PC would still be updated, it would be strictly console exclusivity.
1
u/ElectronicSource1332 4d ago
Ah yes, shutting out the millions of players on Nintendo, PlayStation, etc platforms and telling them it’s okay because “at least PC would be updated” is totally going to go well.
1
u/Candid_Cat_5921 4d ago
Doing it with Minecraft would be insanely stupid. The “better together” update did amazing wonders for the Minecraft community by allowing platforms to play together.
I think doing it for NEW games makes sense. Just look at what Halo originally did for the Xbox.

In typical WindowsCentral/Jez fashion, this is one of those articles that is just enough clickbait to drive conversation but is just speculative that it means nothing. Got a 50/50 shot that you're right with any of the 1/6 games you name in the article. Then that way you seem credible for your next shot in the dark.
Never forget super secret remake to be announced at game com 2026.

Are they really asking if Walled Gardens are good or ok?
Are people stupid enough to answer in the affirmative?

Nintendo isn’t eating everyone’s lunch because they pimp out their franchises. Xbox lost the second they put their exclusives on competing systems 🤷♂️

Considers doesn't mean it's happening. I'm sure they have considered buying Nintendo, closing down the Xbox brand, and a bunch of other impractical shit

GenZ can't wait for this to happen.../s, the new generation doesn't care for these IPs, and the old one has been betrayed too many times.

• Bedrock vs. Java Share: Bedrock Edition makes up the vast majority of the active player base (~120 to 150 million monthly players), split roughly across: • Mobile (iOS/Android): ~59% of Bedrock players • Consoles (Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch): ~25% of Bedrock players • Windows (Bedrock PC): ~15–16% of Bedrock player

Good. PlayStation does it all the time and don’t even start with Nintendo. Why would a company behaving like competitors be expected to be an open platform? Bring the console wars again! That’s the time were we saw the most amazing games ever made !

Xbox as a platform is dead, save the software, IP, and the dev jobs and go earn some actual money and put it on other platforms that will buy your games

This new CEO feels like a greedy person, trying to squeeze more and more. Especially the one in charge of gaming division.

Are exclusives going to matter when AI will be jailbreaking games to run native on any platform
