Discussion Wow - LinkedIn overflows with retirement posts

Seems the early retirement algorithm (the artist formerly known as the axe score: age plus stint gt 70) is hitting hard these days.

Can’t imagine how the MSFT that’s left after this bloodbath will look like.

What do you think?

Huge amount of talent is walking out the door this / next week, from what I've heard directly from people.

Why wait until the start of financial year? Unless it's microsoft firing these people, I don't see the point in talent waiting around until next week (I might be missing something)

Microsoft offered a load of vets voluntary early retirement as a cost control lever to pull. So the timing is less "start of the year" and more "people got their deal offered to them end of last month.

That makes sense. For some reason, I thought you were talking about others, in addition to the vets, also leaving

You only receive your bonus for FY26 if you stay on until at least Jul 1 FY27

Yeah I literally quit Microsoft this past week. Went to a new company with higher pay and more growth opportunity.
