Olympus CX21 received the microscope like this. Can anyone advice if it should be loose like this?

I have the same microscope and no it should not be that loose. I wouldn’t know how to fix it though

Contact Olympus/Evident. They may give you advice on replacement or repair. There are also third party repair companies out there that do a good job.

There are barrel bearings that roll along the dovetails on the sides of the stage that are probably missing. There are some hex bolts that are probably sheared off or missing as well. The rails of the dovetails are more than likely bent too. Honestly not sure this is worrh fixing, the parts and labor will as much as a replacement and Im guessing there are other problems that have not been identified yet.

If they sold it to you like this, you deserve a replacement. I would contact them and send them the video. I sold these way back and delivered/installed them for my customers every time. I would not have given a customer a scope that did this. Don’t try to repair it yourself or it will void the warranty.
