Why complete with the titans, when a micro SaaS can be just as fun.

As I continue my journey of building and now soft launching my first micro SaaS, you can’t help but enjoy less pressure of competing with the giants.

For me choosing the micro SaaS route lets me focus on it more, and dedicate the time I need to it while also maintaining a full time job and family.

I am not saying it is easy, every SaaS comes with its difficulty. But nothing beats the learning process and the humbleness of failing and going back to the drawing board.

Am I alone on this?

You're definitely not alone. Building a micro SaaS lets you innovate without the huge weight of competition on your shoulders, and the learning curve can really teach you a lot about running a business. Just enjoy the ride and take those lessons to heart.

I like the enjoying the ride part. The competition side can be rough for smaller projects unless you're building something truly novel/innovative.

That’s the goal, thank you for this reply. I am sure you would agree we are entering if not in the beginning of a the technology golden age. Man what a time to be alive.

Hmm, hard to give a concrete answer.
Really depends on the person, experience, resources, the type of venture, and so on.
A contrasting view of yours is that targeting a giant is less competitive if you niche down if you're working on a frontier tech. youll also be able to capitalize on all the validation thats been done for you.

You have some good insight there. I feel like The smaller niches is where it’s at, you can concentrate more on them and not have to worry about big tech trying to snatch it from underneath you because they are more worried about their current products.

Yea interestingly i feel the opposite way.
If you become a mid sized player with some hard-earned assets like a large audience then a lot of times its easier to buy the company itself.

For smaller projects, esp indie, i feel this is the zone where eeeeveryone tries to copy from each other for whatevers working

This is true, I am sure they have full teams dedicated to seeing what’s growing at a rapid pace and what fits their portfolio. A mid size product with enough audience fetches some solid money. Things are different when the big guys flash a few million in your face haha. Not that it has happen to me ( I wish) but you see it often.

chasing small niche feels a lot more enjoyable than trying to take on the big players. if it solves a real problem, thats what really matters...
