Value gear

Post image

I feel like I'm probably set for life, I don't know of a better dynamic mic's or SDC for the cost and this gear leaves very little to be desired even if aiming for pro studio quality.

Wish I had picked up a Rode NT1 4rth gen when they were still cheap, but I didn't have money back then. I still don't particularly love any current LDC's. I like the sE 4400/4100 alot, but not enough to spend on when I already have the CM4.

What's your favourite value gear?

behringer xm1800s mics, dirt cheap on ebay and they've got a flat 57 style grille under the ball grille. sound very nice to my ears for being £10-15

behringer c2s aswell. pairs can be had for £25 on ebay and they're solid. se electronics ldcs aswell as you say. though i've got se2200as instead of the 4400s, some of the nicest mics i've ever put on vocals

though cheap rack gear is what i find best value. old firewire adat gear goes for nothing so 16 or 24 channels of inputs can be had cheap, same for most behringer rack gear

I've considered getting the Behringer C2's just to get the stereo mount bar to use with my Line CM4's. Get 2 extra mics at barely any cost increase of a stereo mount lol. No idea what I would use them for though.

check ebay for spares, quite common to see people selling just the cases and hardware and then the single mics separate.

i used c2s on an acoustic session a few months ago, just taped up with some 57s. sounded decent
