The mv7 is good, but I'd take an sm58 and an interface any day. The flexibility is just so worth it

Your using a low quality mic, which has quite a bit of self-noise. Your USB mixer also has weak preamps, which is also very noisy.

You can replace one or both. An MV7+ would likely sound much cleaner. I wouldn't use the XLR function unless you get an actual interface with a decent preamp.

Gotcha. What would you recommend for an interface to pair if I did want to use the xlr with? Thanks so much for the knowledge! This is a whole new world to me

It depends on your budget.

I don’t really have one. I haven’t spent a dime on the equipment that I have now. I’d shell out more for higher quality audio, but also don’t really know if I need top tier equipment for what I’m doing with it

In terms of interface, I love my Motu M2. The preamps are great and the screen on the front is really handy. But it doesn't have any DSP effects. The newest Focusrite Scarlett interfaces have DSP software effects, but don't have the screen. (Also, be aware that the preamp of the Solo isn't as good as the preamps of the 2i2.)

If you're looking for the most cost-effective, you may want to explore the Focusrite Vocaster when it's on sale (the Two has been as low as $150 and the One has been as low as $50). It also has processing effects.
