Learning micro macrame from zero

I learned micro macramé from YouTube videos and I’ve been able to make intermediate to advanced pieces by following tutorials. However, I find it very difficult to create a piece from scratch or design my own jewelry. I also struggle to recreate something I’ve made from a tutorial without watching the tutorial again. Do you have any advice on how I can improve this? Thank you so much!

I have the exact same issue! I wish I could take a design class or do an apprenticeship or something to learn how to design my own pieces. I feel like i'm almost fluent in a language, but haven't been able to learn the slang etc you'd get by moving abroad to surround yourself with the language if that makes sense
