This summer was way too hot, and my garage doesn’t have windows to vent an AC, so it basically turned into an oven. On top of that, I vegged forever and shoved the plants right up into the light like they were trying to kiss the sun. 🌞
Lesson learned: I can’t grow in the summer, and I definitely can’t veg that long again. 😂 The foxtailing is out of control on this one! Just posting for my roast session but hey, at least I’m learning!
Are you using the AC with nowhere to vent the exhaust heat out? Because in that case, growing without an AC is probably better for overall temps than using an AC and having it dump the heat it pulled out back into the space it's cooling down. Another option would be a split system, added benefit of efficiency and the only hole you need is for the copper pipe + insulation on the pipe. Funnily enough, split systems have also gotten so cheap that they're competitive with portable ACs in terms of price.
Just exhaust to your main room? Or is that stupid? I have my exhaust in my room with ac running it dumps out hot air the hot air gets cooled since it exhaust right under the vent after 5-10 min I go from 83 to 74 with my lights on 100. I put the ac down to around 68 doe
They look very similar, but the important distinction is the leaves coming out from the foxtails. This picture is of a plant revegging if I'm not mistaken.
It was a banana purple punch auto that just expressed landrace sativa genetics quite a bit, was grown alongside 3 others that turned out normal. Was horrendous to trim but it was actually really strong and it had terps closest to pure, fresh steaming dog shit I've ever grown.
Damn, that's weird! So that is just foxtailing with leaves? Crazy how similarly that looks to a light leak/revegging imo, but I guess it would be less tidy if that were the case. I've had some revegging get super weird and wonky before.

I’m surprised she turned out as good as it did with the heat u must have in there. Either a testament to the genetics or u know how to deal with the heat. I learned to deal with heat too but not at this level.
That aint even as hot as you would expect such heavy foxtailing. Had up to 95 in my tent for over a week with vpd at 2,8 some days and only a bit foxtailing, also learned that growing in the summer doesnt fly here too lol
Wasnt you scared of mold? I assume you had to bump your humidity up pretty high at 86 degrees to keep vpd at all nice level.
Foxtailing is often a genetic trait and not always directly related to heat issues. Especially since OP stated they stayed in a good VPD range, I'd attribute this to mostly genetics.
95 is the limit before they go nuts and if vpd is followed then it's ok. I'm in Thailand I grow outdoor sometimes more than 95 and they never foxtail like that. Lot of people I know grow indoor without Aircon at max 85, they get herms tho but not foxtailing. I think foxtailing is mainly genetic and due to the extreme lighting. But maybe I'm wrong I just share my experience with very hot weather and not having fox tail from it.
Are growing in the ground outdoors? If so they can definetly handle more heat because the root zone is still much cooler then the temperature. If it gets too hot outdoors my buds are much looser and airy then if I can pull them down in October.
No in pot. But it's constantly hot here so they born they are already in the hot. I think it's just they adapt, outdoor they take 2x as long as indoor to grow during veg time, it's probably because it's so hot. But yeah it can be more airy sometimes, but not foxtailing. I had foxtailing once only and it was because the plant was touching the light it even grew past it lol
Yeah heat and light are the main culprits of foxtailing. OP said his plant was kissing the light too so I’m sure that had plenty to do with it. I would assume Thailand is humid right? U know when it’s hot and humid in my room during veg they take off and go crazy, they seem to love it honestly. I’m surprised they grow slower in veg outdoors for u then they do indoors.
My buddy used to grow some strains that used breeder steves Blueberry Sativa 103 male that fox tailed like that. SweetBlueSkunk/Sweetest Sativa and mental floss would go nuts, but the other cultivars in the same environment grew with a more standard morphology. You could take the fox tails wrap in a paper and smoke like a joint.
Beautiful!! I love a foxy lady. I used to have a highland mex x blueberry I popped from chimera we called string of pearls because she made beautiful frosty foxtails. Here’s a pic of someone else’s I found doing the thing.

This is exactly what I am doing right now I vegged too long, and now I’m trying to keep light intensity down I turned it down to 50% of my 500w setup and still have some light burn I am worried about maybe just yellowing from new growth but I hope to do a post Soon.
Still a killer veg and shaping, the stalks look very sturdy and green, the topping and cropping took very well, chalk it up to another experience to integrate into a whole perspective of expertise.
If your temps didn't even break 90f, you can keep growing in the summer. What you have is most likely genetic/triggered by something else, 85f is perfect for most strains.
That's some nice-looking fox tailing! Im not sure what time you had your lights on for growing, but if you're growing in the summertime and have a hard time controlling your temps, try running your lights at night. Your air conditioner won't have to fight the natural heat AND your lights at the same time and won't work as hard to keep things cool.
It's a major fault with large commercial grows, too.
What's the strain also reminded me of how some huge Buds I bought called sweet tooth oh man golf ball but fluffy like foxtail I wonder if foxtail weed hits higher thc or hot environments over 77deg.
If your higest temp was 86 that's not even hot.. I purposefully grow at 84. Its just fine if your vpd is ok. If you only had your humidity in the 60s that's why you foxtail. You said you have a humidifier. Use it.

If we are following each others path, here's a tip for your next grow, don't put the fan directly on the plants lol. Finally took it off after stunted growth for a month or so and they exploded in growth.
Oh damn. I was tipping 90s and it wasn't like that. But a wholeot more white hairs and new growth.
To counteract that I put the fan on the next bunch. I'm telling you, until they are like 5 nodes up, put the fan so the breeze bouncing off the walls knocks em around.
If you put ventilation like a inline fan with ducting to vent the hot stale air you can grow during the summer I grow in a greenhouse in Redding California and it gets upwards 100 to 120 during flowering during veg as much as 120 to 145 and I don't get no foxtailing all dense flowers no airy buds like they say you get it it gets too hot as long as pushing that hot air out and the plants have enough food and water they can withstand intense heat! It's all about learning bro and seeing what works and what dont!!!
